WORLD September 25, 1999 VNN4793 Related VNN Stories Harrassment Of Ritvik Devotees In Poona` BY SRI KRISHNA CHAITANYA DAS INDIA, Sep 25 (VNN) — Dear Prabhujis and Matajis, please accept my most humble obeisances. Hare Krishna. All glories to Srila Prabhupada, the spiritual master of Hare Krishna movement. On 8th & 9th of this month (September 1999). I was at the Pune (Poona) Hare Krishna temple. This temple is in a bungalow that was donated by a Parsi gentleman to ISKCON for that purpose. ISKCON authorities had directed H.G. Krishna Nama das Brahmachari, a Maharashtrian disciple of Srila Prabhupada, to develop a temple in this bungalow. Since H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu is familiar with Maharashtra, he did a wonderful job in Poona. He not only developed the Poona temple, but by his fantastic preaching made a large number of congregation devotees and life members. Initially, the deities of Their Lordships Sri Sri Gaur-Nitai were installed, but later on, he installed the deities of Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha Kunjabihari in the same temple. As its president, H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu gave the temple the name, Sri Sri Radha Kunjbihiraji Mandir. Now, I am going to relate to you a few of the very shocking incidents that have recently happened as related to me by Krishna Nama Prabhu and a few of the Poona life members. Please note the following points: Mumbai GBCs H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami, H.H. Giriraj Swami, H.H. Shridhar Swami & H.H. Radhanath Swami went to Poona temple to order Krishna Nama Prabhu TO THROW AWAY the deities of Their Lordships, Sri Sri Radha Kunjbihariji, because They had been installed without their permission. Of the four, H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami was the worst. One Life-member told me that they had to stick The Divine Couple to the altar with ARALDITE, a strong adhesive substance, so that the GBCs could not remove them. When the GBC delegation failed to remove Their Lordships Sri Sri Radha KunjBihariji, they became very upset. Out of frustration, H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami warned H.G. Krishna Nam Prabhu that he would "take care of him" in the future. Indeed, shortly thereafter, H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami did play very dirty politics with H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu. From the above point, it is crystal clear that the GBC have not only occupied the post of Srila Prabhupada by becoming diksha gurus, but they also think that they have become greater than Almighty God, Sri Krishna. Later on H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami removed H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu from the post of temple president, putting one of H.H. Radhanath Swami's disciples in his place. Many life members opposed this and have subsequently stopped coming to the temple in protest. H.H. Radhanath Swami and Mr. Mafatlal supported H.H. Gopal Krishna Goswami in this dirty game. Now, the Poona temple is being run by the Mumbai Chowpatty Temple devotees. H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu continues to reside in a small cottage in the Poona temple compound. Though he behaves with all the devotees according to the proper Vaishnava etiquette, they treat him like an untouchable person. Nobody from the temple gives him importance or serves him prasadam. He is staying with his old mother. He does Bhagavata Katha everywhere and practices as an ayurvedic physician out of the same cottage. Many life members and Congregation members still come there to offer him their respects. One day, some of the Mumbai-Chowpatty Temple devotees who now run the Poona temple went to break the lock of H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu's house while he was out of town for Srimad Bhagavata Katha. Many life members opposed these devotees' illegal behaviour and protected H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu's residence. The same devotees had brought a deity of Srila Prabhupada to the Poona temple. The deity was old and had lost its colours. It also had a minor crack. But instead of getting the deity of Srila Prabhupada repaired or disposing of it by immersion in water, they dumped it in the GARBAGE heap behind the temple compound. These devotees obviously have no respect for Srila Prabhupada. At last, one day H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu miraculously found the Srila Prabhupada deity in the dry garbage pile. He got it repaired and painted and has now given it a place of honour in his residence. Some of the Mumbai Chowpatty temple devotees who are now running the Poona temple are harassing the life members who support H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu. Some soft-hearted life members have stopped coming to the temple altogether, while other stronger members continue to come to the temple regularly in order to protect and support him. In light of all the above, I called a meeting of active life members at H.G. Krishna Nama Prabhu's residence in order to take serious action against the spiritual criminals. I request all my dearest IRG members/wellwishers to do the needful according to your own capacity. I am also an IRG member from Mumbai (Bombay) and am trying my level best to rectify the situation.
