WORLD August 20, 1999 VNN4553 Comment on this story Srila BP Puri Maharaja Health Report 11 BY RAMDAS DAS INDIA, Aug 20 (VNN) — Dear Merciful Vaishnavas, 8.18.99 I am happy to report to you all that your kind prayers and chanting have indeed been reciprocated by the Divine Couple in allowing Their dear-most servant, His Divine Grace Pujapada Bhakti Promode Puri Goswami Maharaja to remain with us in this world for some more time. His Divine Grace as of early this morning (india time) is in stable condition and His heart is fine now for a person of His advanced age. Guru Maharaja was suffering from a bronchial condition (infection) which was causing His pulse and blood pressure to go up and down drastically. He is now fine, although a little weak and recovering to His normal condition. Guru Maharaja has been speaking a few words only and sometimes chanting a sloka or asking when a particular event is. Recently he asked about Ekadasi and Balarama's Appearance day. He is quite aware of His surroundings and condition but is mostly absorbed in His internal bhajan from which many symptoms are manifesting. It was recounted by one devotee visiting Guru Maharaja that Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur was in a similar state for six months prior to His disappearance from this world, which is recounted in His biography. Guru Maharaja by His causeless mercy continues to extend to all of us His blessings by being present in this world as well as the divine opportunity of seva for those fortunate souls who are having the opportunity to serve Him at this time. We ask all of you to continue your heartfelt prayers for the full recovery of our Guru Maharaja and also thank you for your continued support. The greatest manifestation of our affection and honor for the senior Vaishnava to remain in this world is to continue to refrain from and instruct others to refrain from vaishnava-aparadha. While the internet brings much hope and promise for broadcasting the message of Mahaprabhu and our Guru Varga, it sadly also creates a vehicle for aparadha to spread like a terrible disease and plague. I am sad to not new forums of disrespectful and offensive exchanges between vaishnavas. This will not please our Gurus and has been emphasized by ALL of them and Mahaprabhu Himself as the one activity, which we can do that will destroy our spiritual life. If we can learn to put aside these differences and look on each other with mature understanding, compassion, and mercy, then we will be a little closer to representing our Guru Varga truly. Our hearts must forgive as the Lord has forgiven us and focus on our preaching and the improvement of our own bhajan. I pray that this request of our Guru Maharaja will be heard and respected, as I believe that adopting this instruction will encourage Him to remain in this world for the benefit of all souls and bring harmony to our various missions.
