Jagannath Temple Gets On The Web

PURI, INDIA, Jul 15 (VNN) Puri: Lord Jagannath, the presiding deity of Sri Jagannath temple here, went on the World Wide Web on Tuesday. The website, developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC), was inaugurated by the Gajapati Maharaja of Puri, Sri Dibyasingha Deb, on the eve of the famous rath yatra on Wednesday.
The website, http://ori.nic.in/jagannath/, will provide surfers a variety of information on the 12th century shrine and the temple town which is also a beach resort.
The information available on the net includes maps, details on festive occasions, accommodation for all income groups, pictures of the deities, descriptions on subsidiary temples, donation schemes for the shrine, the administrative set up, mutts and ashrams and places of interest in the temple town, sea beach, local art and craft, shopping arcades, devotional music and Sanskrit learning.
