WORLD  20th Inter-Faith Symposium BY ADI-KURMA DASA USA, Nov 25 (VNN) — The 20th anniversary of the Inter -faith symposium was held at the North park collegiate School in Brantford,Canada, the city well -known for Alexander graham bell and rightly called "Telephone City".His Holiness Bhaktimarga Swami was one of the speaker in the Symposium representing hindu community and especially the hare Krsna movement.The topic was ' Changing faces of the family - religious perspective'. Every year The Ahmediyya Movement in Islam organises the Symposium and invites different religious groups and get their views on different aspects of religion.For those who are not aware of the Ahmeddiyya muslims - the Ahmeddiyya islam was initiated under the divine guidance of messiah hazrat Mirza Gulam Ahmed of Qadian, India (1835- 1908) to revive the true Islam as presented by the Holy prophet Muhammad.Although taken as controversial sect by the muslim fundamentalists, the Ahmeddiyyas are more open minded and liberal in accepting other religious sects. There were speakers from Sydenham united Church represented by Dr.Rev. Barry Pridham, Lama tenzin Kal Sang from the tenge-ling buddhist temple, representing the the native medicine men was Walter Cooke from the ojibe tribe,Prithpal Singh Chagger was from the local sikh communityand naseem mahdi from the Ahmeddiyyas. The Symposium was presided by the Honorable Mayor of Brantford, Mr.Chris Friel. He also volunteered to be the master of the ceremony. His Holiness Bhaktimarga Swami in his speech clearly explained the changinging scenesin the family of today to that of theyester yearsmoving back to the time of mahabharata. He often quoted the scripture and dramatised certain significant events from mahabharata in his elloquent speech.Maharaja's sense of humour touched everybodies heart and was appreciated by everyone in the audience. Surely at the end of the speech the saffron clad sanyasi stole the show representing Srila Prabhupada's movement and representing the entire ISKCON in the Inter-Faith Symposium.
