WVA Meetings Report
BY WVA
INDIA, Dec 17 (VNN) Meetings
Every year the WVA holds a meeting in Vrindavan during the celebrated month of Karttik (October - November). Every meeting is preceded by a preliminary administrative meeting where WVA members from different Vaisnava institutions report on their activities in an informal way. Last Karttik pre-meeting was held in the beautiful Vrinda Kunja gardens of the VRINDA Mission.
WVA Pre-Meeting
(Vrinda Kunj. Vrindavan) November 3rd, 1999. It was proposed that the next official meeting could be held in Sri Gopinath Gaudiya Math, Mayapur, one day before the managerial meeting of the Saraswata Gaudiya Vaishnava Association.
Due to the precarious health of Tusta Krishna das, the WVA must select a new Press Secretary. The name of Shyamasundar das, a disciple of Siddhaswarupananda Paramahamsa, was proposed during the discussion.
The Audarya Award
The next point was the Audarya Award. In the last International Meeting in Mayapur Srila Paramadvaiti Maharaj had introduced the idea of recognizing the efforts of individuals who have significantly contributed to Vaisnavism throughout the world.
It was suggested that in the year 2000 the first batch of awards could be distributed for special temple constructions, publications, films, music recordings, drama, theater, Vaishnava journalism, art contribution, web sites, applied ecology in Vaishnava projects, and Vaishnava charity. It was proposed that the award could be given to both Vaisnavas and non- Vaisnavas alike. Commenting on this Urukrama das from the Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti remarked that the award should be given by a senior Vaishnava, a respectable person for all, in such a way that it will be appreciated by the person to whom the award is given.
WVA Symposium and new magazine
An evaluation of the first week of the WVA Symposium in Yamuna Kunja was made. Due to attending the yearly Braj Mandal Parikrama, most of the devotees could not participate. Aside from that, appreciation was felt by all.
Swami BA Paramadvaiti requested permission and blessings from all the participants for compiling a book on the World Vaisnava Association, its history, and goals. His ideas were well received by the assembled devotees. The revival of the WVA magazine, which was started by Swami B.P. Hrishikesh, was announced by Swami BV Parivrajak.
