Southern Baptists Asked To Pray For Hindus
FROM CNSNEWS.COM
USA, Oct 26 (VNN) (CNSNews.com) - After angering some Jews by praying for their salvation during the Jewish High Holy days, the Southern Baptist Convention has issued a new booklet urging its members to pray for millions of Hindus: "Pray that the darkness and the power of Satan will be broken," the booklet says. The Southern Baptist Convention, the nation's largest protestant denomination, has timed the release of the booklets to coincide with Divali, the major Hindu festival of lights.
The call to prayer urges Southern Baptists to pray for the conversion of those who "worship gods which are not God." The booklet says the Hindus have no concept of sin or personal responsibility. Echoing the complaints of some Jews earlier this year, a spokeswoman for the Council of Hindu Temples called the timing of the publication profoundly insulting and the content "absurd" and "ignorant." The Southern Baptists also plan to write a prayer guide dedicated to the conversion of Buddhists.
