The Whole (Stretched) Truth

USA, Apr 26 (VNN) — The following statement can be found on most CHAKRA pages: "We here at Chakra are committed to telling you the whole truth. We don't hide anything..."

It appears, however, that the editor-in-chief of CHAKRA admits to a different standard in the following COM email:

"Text COM:977522 (128 lines) [W1]
From: Vipramukhya Swami
Date: 20-Dec-97 17:42
To: WSTRAT (Web Strategy) [275]
Subject: Fight dirty with dirty

Well, after I had one conversation with a particular Swami over the phone, I realized that if the Ritviks fight dirty, sometimes we have to bend the rules a little too.

We were "caught with our pants down" when someone did a STATUS on the WSTRAT conference and figured out who was on it. This was then posted on the VNN web site.

Although the VNN reporting was accurate, it did not serve our cause correctly. I chose a quick course of action based on the Mahabharata.

When Karna's chariot wheel was stuck, and he got off his chariot to free it, Krsna told Arjuna to kill him. Karna objected by reminding Krsna that he was unarmed and defenseless and this was unfair. Krsna then reminded Karna that his killing of Abhimanyu was also unfair. Where were his morals then?

So I decided in such a case, stretching the truth a little is okay to defend Srila Prabhupada's movement.

Here's what I posted on CHAKRA. It received an IMMEDIATE response, which I then also responded to. It also shows that what we're doing is getting immediate reactions. We are definitely being noticed."
