Vaisnava Siddhanta and Gaudiya Vedanta Daily Discussion circle or Forum"Svarupa Damodar"

Time: 4-6 PM

Information:

History:

Vrindavan is the most wonderful place in this Universe. Here since the times of the six Goswamis of Vrindavan souls would meet to dive deep into the realty of the divine revelation. The rasa stali area with the Seva Kunja, Radha Damodar Temple and the Imli Tala Temple is the center of Sri Sri Radha Krishna's divine pastimes and also deeply connected to Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu and his confidential associates. Here Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami wrote the Srimad Bhagavatam to prepare for his world mission.

Today, his disciples and many other Vaisnavas from so many other missions visit Vrindavan frequently or even live here. As the great Vaisnavas of the past published literature to further and defend the cause of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's descent and world mission in the forum of the Visva Vaisnava Raj Sabha, many devotee desire to find a non sectarian forum to associate with each other to find answers to many questions.

This was the inspiration to plan the discussion circle " Svarup Damodar".

The place:

Yamuna Kunja is a wonderful old Yamuna Ghat surrounded by Gaudiya Mathas on all sides. Peaceful and clean, it provides the best atmosphere to listen to the sadhus speak and to discuss the most different topics.

Statement of purpose:

The goal of this forum is to permit Vaisnavas to meet each other without the limitation of Missionary compromises or social obligations. We are interested to review what is being published in the Vaisnava World. We invite Acaryas, Sannyasys and Vaisnava authors to present their teachings in the light of Guru, Sastra and Sadhu. We want to hear commentaries of classics of the Gaudiya Vedanta literature to further our understanding. We want different senior members of the Vaisnava Community to speak on interesting topics and of course, we want a lively discussion with all the members in the audience in the spirit of the Istagosti to further the respect and presentation Vaisnavism holds as a world religion.

Procedures:

Different programs will be announced via Internet (http://www.vina.org). The speaker will have one hour to explain his topic and one hour should be used for questions and answers. Every meeting will be recorded and the tapes will be made available to whoever desires to have them via the "Svarup Damodar" Tape ministry:
WVA office - Vansi Kunja
Gopesvara Road 146
Vrindavan UP 281121, INDIA
Tel 0565-443932.
Special highlights of the gatherings will be published on VINA daily.

The audience can request special topics to be addressed or special books to be reviewed and discussed by the forum.

It is a basic condition for all the participants of the Forum to be polite, friendly, respectful with others even if you do not share their opinion and to be without a hidden agenda or trying to use the forum to canvass for any mission. The truth is the only criteria, and to find the truth is the service of all of us.

Even though this forum will avoid discussing any particular Vaisnavas and only focus on the philosophical points of view, it may invite particular writers to come and explain their writings to the forum. We want this forum to gain such a respect through its disinterested, impartial and strong common sense approach. It is our firm hope that Vaisnavas will be attracted to and contribute to its strong development to serve the cause of World Vaisnavism.

Subjects:

Classical Texts of Vaisnavism
Social concerns of the life of Vaisnavas in this world.

Publications of the contemporary Vaisnava World
Requested topics from the Audience in person or via Internet.

How to join the circle:

Anyone can come to visit the Yamuna Kunja at 4 PM to listen and to participate in the discussions. All should provide their name and address in the book which lists the attendance. We request those who come to avoid repeatedly coming in and out to keep the concentration of the forum, to be punctual, remain silent in the hall and not to bring any children ( Unless they are like Prahlad Maharaj). Speakers who do not speak the English language are requested to bring their own trusted translator. The preferred language of the forum is English. Background translation into other languages is permitted.

Home page:
