WORLD  Chant And Be Happy BY APRAKRTA DASA CANADA, Dec 17 (VNN) — It was a sizeable crowd that cheered the premiere viewing of "Krishna Experience: Chant And Be Happy", the french film by Philippe Auliac. The event staged on Sunday November 16 at our Rue Duluth centre in Montreal had a definite Beatles flavour. The french producer, a personal friend of George Harrison, who came with members of his crew to assist at this first public viewing of his movie, was overwhelmed with emotion when the public expressed its appreciation showering him with well deserved compliments. The 70 minutes documentary featured rare footage of the Beatles, compliment of Yoko Ono, excerpts from George Harrison's last interview as well as scenes from John and Yoko's famous Montreal bed-in. Mick Jagger is also seen briefly as part of an audience accompanying the Beatles as they perform "All You Need Is Love". Krishna devotees are of course the focus of this fascinating documentary. They tell their own stories often filled with colorful anecdotes of drug experiments, hippie lifestyles, violent milieus, past family histories some harmonious, others dysfunctional. There are even second generation devotees opening up for the camera. The common thread that seems to tie all these personal testimonies is a strong and sincere philosophical quest, an intense search for answers to life enigmas that landed all these individuals on the temple steps. They reveal where they have arrived in their own spiritual journey. One lady who was very active in the movement for many years today considers herself a part-time devotee. A young mother expresses her satisfaction to have been able to quit her job to raise her child in Krishna Consciousness. An older mother tells of her four children who have become devotees. Anoher speaks of the great love that emanated from his spiritual master Srila Prabhupada. Following the film's success, we wish to make it available to all of you.
