New Zealand VISIONZ Festival (Sweetwaters II?)

BY DHANANJAYA DASA

WHANGAMATA, NEW ZEALAND, Dec 9 (VNN) — Kiwi's (New Zealander's) are about the sweetest people you will ever meet and they pride themselves on their open minds, alternative living, clean environment, and no worries.

Hare Krishna's at Visionz

Enter VISIONZ, a celebration of music, art, ideas and fun. It happens at GOLDEN BAY on the South Island of New Zealand, an aptly named spot where the land meets the sea - from the 30th of December 2003 until the 2nd of January 2004 – the beginning of the summer holiday season in the Southern Hemisphere. (Hint to the snowbound – it’s sunny and warm here now!)

“For four days and three nights, the Robinsons big, beautiful bush-fringed farm becomes a giant campground for families, freaks, straights, greenies, hippies, farmers, rugby players and grandparents alike. Their aim is to see in the New Year amid some of the finest live and electronic music, performance and atmosphere to be found anywhere - and to help make a difference. " [http://www.visionz.org.nz/welcome.html]

Now enter the Hare Krishna’s who are going to make another pleasant kind of difference by bringing the Maha Mantra & Krishna Katha to them.
New Zealand is famous amongst the Hare Krishna's for the Sweetwaters festivals in the 80's, especially the one in 1983 when His Holiness Dhrstadyumna Swami Maharaja led the program that enthralled thousands of young people.

Now, that same Dhrstadyumna Swami (aka Bhaktivedanta Bhaktisar Swami) is back in action in New Zealand for VISIONZ, which is being called Sweetwaters II by an enthusiastic new generation of devotees - some of whose parents 20 years ago became devotees as a result of, or were at, that one.

At least fifty devotees from all over the world including Sripad BV Bhaktisar Maharaja, Sripad BV Aranya Maharaja, and Sripad BV Sajjan Maharaja (aka Krishna Bhajan Prabhu of Southern California) will converge for this memorable event.

Before and after VISIONZ, there are two book distribution parties (men’s and ladies) touring the Islands, having harinama in the streets, setting up Nama Hatta programs in receptive people’s homes, and distributing “love” in the form of transcendental books by our acharyas: Srila Jiva Goswami (Commentary on Brahma Samhita), Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakur (Jaiva Dharma), Srila A. C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada (Krishna, Reservoir of Pleasure), and Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Goswami Maharaja (Controlled by Love).

After VISIONZ, every Friday, Saturday and Sunday from Friday, January 9th through Sunday, January 25th, 2004, the book distribution preaching parties will be spending weekends in Whangamata.

This thriving but pleasantly small beach resort town on the Bay of Plenty on the North Island features a new preaching center right on the main street established by Atmarama Isvara Prabhu. There, at the peak of the summer holiday season when the streets are swarmed with people, there will be three weeks of non-stop kirtans and classes with the Maharajas and other senior devotees visiting from around the globe. All formal weekend programs will be broadcast in live video via broadband internet over Pure Bhakti Webcast available at http://www.purebhakti.com/webcast/index.shtml.

Then, to make the most perfect conclusion to this “Summer of Real Love”, all will fly to Murwillumbah, Australia (near Brisbane) for the annual Festival there with Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja himself from February 3rd to 10th. Arrangements are also being made for LIVE VIDEO internet broadcast of this most auspicious event.
