WORLD  Hotel Prabhupada Update BY TARADEVI DASI INDIA, Jul 13 (VNN) — (see also VNN Story 7943) Mommy returned to Kolkata from Ratha Yatra in Jagannatha Puri and she was in a very happy mood. Not just because the Ratha Yatra of Shree Jagannatha Deva was wonderful but because she had some good news about the Hotel Prabhupada. Mommy is very determined and she has never been one to sit idol. The day after Ratha Yatra she went to the Hotel Prabhupada and contacted the owner. To her surprise the owner of the Hotel Prabhupada was Gouri Shankar Singhari, Head Priest of Lord Jagannatha Temple! The Singhari family are the special family of pujaris who are the ones to dress Jagannatha everyday. Mommy asked them why the restaurant at the Hotel Prabhupada was non-veg and they explained that they had given the hotel restaurant on lease and that the lease did not state veg or non-veg. They said that they felt very bad about what had happened and that they had great respect for Shree Prabhupada. They said that legally the situation was out of their hands until 2004 when the lease is over. At that time Gouri Shankar Singhari promised that the Hotel Prabhupada restaurant would become purely vegetarian. Gouri Shankar invited devotees to please come and stay at the Hotel Prabhupada when they come to Jagannatha Puri and Mommy said she would pass on the invitation. That is the Good News.
