WORLD  Grant From Children Of Krishna BY JAHNAVI DASI USA, Mar 20 (VNN) — Hare Krishna Youth Promised grant from Children Of Krishna Inc. Haribol, please accept my respects. Just a short note to confirm our grant to HKY in the amount of $1,500 toward matching funds. I have spoken with Vishvambhar about the grant. I simply have not sent out the granted amount because of lacking some follow-up material required from HKY. I apologize for the delay this has caused HKY in receiving their funds. For any unnecessary delay, I take personal responsibility. There is no question of fulfilling this grant, only some follow up. Regarding Children of Krishna: we are a non profit organization and not an ISKCON office. We are not the Office of Child Protection either. We are an independent organization which raises money from concerned individuals around the world to help youth. More than 60% of our $80,000 goes to direct grants per year. We have given over $250,000 since our inception in 1996. We have a board of Directors and a skeleton crew of one, me. We disburse funds as they become available and our criteria for receiving a grant is based on various factors such as the nature of the project, the individuals personal input and dedication, financial need, and responsibleness of the applicant. Our bylaws instruct us to follow up and make sure we are answerable to our donors and constituents alike. We also offer many other services and support. We raise awareness of youth issues within ISKCON management and amongst devotees, we act as a referral and clearinghouse service for both first and second generations who call, and most of all we act as a link or bridge between many youth and the first generation. This past year we lost one of our largest and founding supporters, Tamal Krishna Goswami. The economy has also hit many of our other supporters very hard. Times being as there are, Children of Krishna has also been affected. In essence, I would request that you please also make your phone calls and emails in offering to help us continue to offer the youth the level of support we have promised.
