INTRODUCTION ABOUT LORD SHRI GAURANGA MAHAPRABHU The Supreme Personality of Godhead Lord Krsna, the origin of the spiritual and material creation, the origin of the three features of the Absolute Truth known as the impersonal brahman, four-handed Paramatma and shad-aisvarya-purna Bhagavan and the source of innumerable incarnations - like Rama, Nrsimha, Visnu, Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, Vamana etc - out of His supreme causeless mercy personally appeared 516 years ago (on February 18, 1486) in the Nadia district of West Bengal, as the transcendental son of Shri Jagannatha Misra (combined incarnation of Prsni, Kashyapa, Dasharatha, Vasudeva and Nanda) and Shrimati Shachidevi (combined incarnation of Sutapa, Aditi,Kaushalya, Devaki and Yashoda). With His complete potencies as Lord Shri Krishna, along with His own transcendental abode of Shri Navadvipa, Lord Shri Gauranga Mahaprabhu descended specifically for the deliverance of the fallen souls of this most degraded age of Kali through His own nama-sankirtana and to fulfill His own innermost desires of relishing the love of Shrimati Radharani by assuming Her golden complexion. It is described in Srimad-Bhagavatam that in Satya-yuga the Lord appears with a white complexion, in Treta-yuga His complexion is red, and and in Dvapara-yuga His complexion is black (krsna). And in Kali-yuga He appears with a yellow complexion, the color of molten gold. Thus Lord Gauranga Mahaprabhu is also known as Gaurasundara ("golden moon"), Gaurahari, Nimai, Vishvambhara, Shri Krishna Chaitanya, Gaura etc. and the Golden Avatara. Lord Balarama, the Lord's elder brother appeared as the supremely magnanimous and merciful Lord Shri Nityananda Prabhu in Ekachakra-grama in Radha-desha in Bengal. They both met in Navadvipa and inaugurated the Sankirtana Movement of Their own Names which is the supreme benediction for the whole world.
