World Vaishnava Association Harinam

BY MAHAVEGAVATI DASI

INDIA, Nov 29 (VNN) — I am submitting the following for the pleasure of the assembled Vaishnavas:

Krsna varnam tvisa krsnam sangopangastra parsadam Yajnaih sankirtana prayair yajanti hi su-medhasah

Intelligent persons in the age of Kali will perform congregational chanting in order to worship the incarnation of Godhead, who constantly sings the names of Krsna. Although His complexion is not blackish, He is Krsna Himself. He is accompanied by His associates, servants, weapons, and confidential companions.

In commemoration of the Tirobhava of Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaj, who had helped inaugurate the current World Vaishnava Association, and who was its first president, there was a WVA Harinam held on November 18th in Vrindavan.

The Harinam party with representatives from numerous Gaudiya Vaishnava missions started at 9:00am from Imlitala, the place where Lord Caitanya Mahaprabhu would come everyday while in Vrindavan to sit and chant japa. (This is also the place where Krsna after leaving the Rasa lila, had come to sit in separation from Srimati Radharani. In that mood of separation, Krsna had assumed a golden complexion.) The Nagar Sankirtan was led by the senior-most Vaishnavas, Srila Trivikram Maharaj, (one of the few living disciples of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakur Prabhupada), and by Srila Bhakti Ballabh Tirtha Maharaj, President-Acarya of Sri Caitanya Gaudiya Math, who is also the newly elected president of the WVA.

Devotees from the different Gaudiya Vaishnava missions carried banners and pictures to represent their various missions, present acaryas and previous Vaishnava acaryas. These devotees had come from numerous countries around the world. For some, they were reminded of Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur?s prediction that Vaishnavas from around the world would gather together to glorify and chant the holy names of Lord Hari.

The Nagar Sankirtan party proceeded from Imlitala to Sringhar Vat, Radha-Damodar Mandir, Seva Kunja, Bankhandi Mandir, Loi Bazaar, Amiya Nimai Mandir, Lala Babu Mandir, Gopishvara Mandir, and the Gopinath Gaudiya Math where a festival commorating Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaj?s Tirobhava was being observed.

After paying respects to Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaj and Their Lordships at the Dauji Mandir, the Nagar Sankirtan party proceeded on to Rangaji Mandir, Govindaji Mandir, and down Mathura Road to the Sri Caitanya Gaudiya Matha where a festival in honor of Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaj?s Tirobhava was also being celebrated. Srila Bhakti Promode Puri Maharaj had resided at this particular Matha for many years.

To see the Gaudiya Vaishnava family united in this way was most ecstatic. For sure Srila Bhaktivinode Thakur and our Vaishnava predecessors must have been pleased by such an event. Hopefully in the future such Harinams will continue and will grow in size.

May Lord Caitanya continue to give His blessings to all the Vaishnavas and the Sankirtan movement.

Param Vijayate Sri Krsna Sankirtanam.

I remain your servant,

Mahavegavati Dasi
Hare Krsna
