INDIA, Nov 27 (VNN) NEW DELHI - Landmark Hindu temples and centres of pilgrimage across India have been placed under heavy guard after an attack by Islamic terrorists on two temples in southern Kashmir at the weekend.
New Delhi's Birla Mandir temple was among those put under armed guard as devotees were told to be vigilant against possible attacks.
Thin attendance during evening prayers on Monday was reported.
Heavily armed Islamic terrorists stormed into the Raghunath temple and a shrine to Lord Shiva in Kashmir's winter capital of Jammu late on Sunday, sparking a gun-battle that raged until Monday morning in which a total of 15 people died. --AFP
