Mayapur Festival 2003
BY BHAKTI PURUSOTTAMA SWAMI
MAYAPUR, INDIA, Aug 9 (VNN) Dear devotees, Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! It is with pleasure that we invite you to participate in the ISKCON Mayapur Gaura Purnima Festival 2003. Srila Prabhupada stated that Mayapur was his place of worship, and hence it is a house of worship for us, his followers. Therefore, during this year's festival, there will be longer and more kirtans by which we can worship the Supreme Lord Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. In fact, the kirtana hall in the temple is being expanded to allow more devotees in participating in the temple programs. In order to make this a true homecoming for the visiting devotees, we will be providing free prasadam and free accomodation (prior booking required) in the guest house dormitories to all devotees. And, as with the last year's festival, there will also be arrangements for the children to be busy during the festival - they can participate in a Krsna conscious festival, competitions, etc. Srila Prabhupada was known to spend up to six months in India attending various festivals. The Mayapur festival has come a long way. It has developed from scratch in the pioneering days to what it is today, only because of his dedicated disciples and grand-disciples and by his mercy. The year 2003 is also the 25th anniversary of Srila Prabhupada's departure to the eternal pastimes of Lord Krishna. On this occation, let us show our love for His Divine Grace by reaffirming our commitments to jointly serve His Divine Grace in his place of worship, Sri Mayapur. The grand finale to the festival will be a Maha Harinama Sankirtan in Kolkata, the birthplace of Srila Prabhupada - a befitting tribute to our illustrious Founder Acarya. Earnest efforts are being made on our part to make this festival a memorable one. Please send in your suggestions, and book as early as possible. Hare Krishna. Yours in the service of Srila Prabhupada, Bhakti Purusottama Swami.
