Download Rays Of The Harmonist

BY KALIYA DAMANA DASA

USA, Jul 30 (VNN) — Hare Krishna! Dandavat pranama. The latest Rays of The Harmonist issue posted online has been on its way to the internet for so long, that had it been a mundane publication one would have deemed it outdated. But as for all transcendental matters time is of no consideration, and one will find this to be highly confirmed by the essence of the editorial taken from the journal of the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti, Sri Bhagavat Patrika, in its 1/9 issue from 1950, which we are bringing to you below as an enticement to download the entire issue. In spite of the date it was penned it speaks out on fanaticism, extremism or terrorism-of the kind that is prevalent in the world today.

Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti is working for the genuine welfare and auspiciousness of the world by preaching bhakti-vedanta, and I consider it imperative for every Vaishnava to cooperate with this Samiti.

A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhuapada

There are certain individuals who state that the present mission of the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti is not bona-fide, that its puplications and teachings are opposed to that of even Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Maharaja, wherefore one will deviate from the teachings given by him, should one read and adopt the teachings of the Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti and its foremost teachers, like Srila Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja. We have therefore inserted one of Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada's own statements in this regard, taken from an article first published in the Sri Bhagavat Patrika by him, and included in this very same issue of Rays of The Harmonist, in order to overcome such gross misperceptions that may prevent a sincere bhakta from entering behind the heavy curtain of organized religion.

"Sri Gaudiya Vedanta Samiti is working for the genuine welfare and auspiciousness of the world by preaching bhakti-vedanta, and I consider it imperative for every Vaishnava to cooperate with this Samiti. "

Srila A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada,

in an article entitled 'Vedantavitta Krishna',

first published in Sri Gaudiya Patrika in 1957

- included in Rays of The Harmonist 5-1.

Editorial

There have been many obstacles in publishing The Harmonist since the disappearance of om vishnupada Sri Srimad Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Gosvami Thakura, and this has caused much discomfort to the readers of The Harmonist. Everyone passed his days with a distressed heart, deprived of the good fortune of being blessed by the Suddha-rupanuga bhaktivinoda-dhara. Now The Harmonist has emerged once again, by the efforts of the faithful servants of Srila Sarasvati Thakura's followers, who desire the welfare of all jivas.

Carrying the message of the transcendental realm, the spiritual journal Rays of The Harmonist presents itself at the door of the conditioned jivas and attracts them towards the path of bhakti. The journal is a mine of unlimited beauty in the form of the eternal worship of Sri Gaurasundara's activities and precepts. Only Gaudiyas who are residents of the transcendental dhama, and persons who are on the path to Gauranga's dhama, can appreciate this beauty.

When this journal, whose each and every word and message is fully endowed with transcendental beauty, appears at someone's door, it destroys their ignorance and awakens their dormant function of loving service to the all-attractive Godhead. By reading this journal, one becomes fortunate enough to know that the sole proprietor of complete beauty is aprakrita Kamadeva Sri Madana-mohana. No one besides Gaurasundara preached and glorified such an exalted subject-matter, and The Harmonist fully presents Gaurasundara's conception for us.

We ourselves have no realization of the real transcendental beauty of this journal. However, The Harmonist is the well-wisher of the whole world, and we believe that if this journal mercifully appears at the doors of baddha-jivas like us, who are eager to enjoy worldly beauty, then those jivas will begin to experience real beauty. At that time, we come to realize that transcendental beauty is not fuel for our enjoyment, but is the object of our wholesale dedication. And, by performing kirtana with such realization, we can be blessed.

Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, who originally started this magazine, is Gadadhara's Sakti. This issue includes a special feature on the tattva of Sri Gadadhara, and clears certain misconceptions about His constitutional position. In Sri Gadadharastakam, Srila Svarupa Damodara Gosvami clearly states that Gadadhara Pandita is non-different from Srimati Radhika.

The supreme Absolute Truth is all-accommodating, and everything is beautifully harmonized in Him. This is the teaching of all true religions, and especially of the Vedic sanatana-dharma. If someone desires to attain that Absolute Truth and follows a religion that cannot accommodate the feelings of others, then that so-called religion is not in fact a true religion. It is sectarianism, and such sectarianism that ignores the conception of harmony results in fanaticism, extremism or terrorism-of the kind that is prevalent in the world today.

First published in full in Sri Bhagavat Patrika, in its 1/9 issue from 1950

- included in Rays of The Harmonist 5-1.
