Fan Urges Pause For George Harrison
FROM THE ASSOCIATED PRESS
USA, Aug 6 (VNN) LOS ANGELES (AP) - If, as the Beatles once sang, ''The love you take is equal to the love you make,'' then fans the world over owe ailing guitarist George Harrison, a top fan says.
Rip Rense, a free-lance writer and longtime contributing editor to Beatlefan magazine, called on people across the world to pause at noon on Sunday and shout ''Hare Krishna!'' in Harrison's honor. ...called on people across the world to pause at noon on Sunday and shout ''Hare Krishna!'' in Harrison's honor. | |
''The idea is for everybody to think happy thoughts about him and to send them to him,'' Rense said. ''It's sort of a gigantic human get-well card.''
He also called on people in parks and other public places to play one of Harrison's most popular post-Beatles songs, ''My Sweet Lord.''
Harrison, 58, recently denied tabloid reports that he is gravely ill with cancer, saying he is ''active and very well.'' He has undergone treatment for a brain tumor, however, and a cancerous lump was removed from his neck in 1997. He also was wounded by a knife-wielding intruder who broke into his home in 1999.
