WORLD  Illegal Use Of The Name "ITV" BY NRSIMHANANDA DASA USA, May 25 (VNN) — (see also VNN Story 6763) Siddhanta dasa has just posted an article about a new video from "ITV" which, in the text, is paranthetically shown as "Illusion Television." The orginal ITV Productions corporation bought out Siddhanta's interest in 1992, and there is a written legal agreement which stipulates that he cannot use the anagram "ITV" in any marketing to the devotional market. Siddhanta formed a new corporation, Illusion Television, and he used, with permission, the old ITV logo electronically on his videos. He is allowed to use the "ITV" anagram in (secular) markets other than the devotional one. Siddhanta abrogated this agreement while advertising in the Hare Krishna World newspaper, and, after reviewing the legal documents, the editors, Kunti dd and Sarva prabhu, prohibited him from using the anagram "ITV" in their publication. Siddhanta continued to use ITV on his tape labels claiming that such use was not "marketing." We disagreed, but it wasn't worth going to court over. Obviously, whatever you print on your jackets and labels is part of an overall marketing scheme since tapes are bought off of store shelves or display tables. So ITV Productions, Inc., a 5013C nonprofit charitable organization which has the agreement with Cid Hunter, the owner of Illusion Television, Inc., a "S"corporation, formally requests that VNN cease and desist from displaying the anagram "ITV" originating or referring to Illusion (or sometimes as he names it, Illuminations Television) on any entries from that company on its web site. Otherwise, his article is a wonderful testament to Siddhanta's dedication to preserving the legacy of Srila Prabhupada.
