WORLD June 13, 2000 VNN6019 Comment on this story Hare Krishna Movement In Kashmir BY RAMRATTAN DASA KASHMIR, Jun 13 (VNN) — For the first time since Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's recommended Hari Namsankirtan as the religious process for the people of Kali Yuga the devotees with the blessing of Srila Navayogendra Swami Maharaj, of ISKCON, Udhampur and Jammu went on expedition for propagating the ideals of the Lord to the people of Kashmir. On the occasion of Kheer Bhawani Mela, we started from Srila Prabhupada Ashram Udhampur on 8th June reaching Srinagar on the same day. On the following two days, all of us did ecstatic Kirtan which was greatly appreciated by the local population, irrespective of caste, colour, creed and religion. It was pleasent surprise to find Chaitanya Mahaprabhu's prophesy coming true, in another nook and corner of the world. The public response was truely amazing with every body singing, dancing and chanting HARE KRISHNA Mahamantra. The Sankirtan was led by H.G Sudershan dasa comprasing twenty devotees. We are now eagerly looking forward to contnue this process to other parts of Kashmir during the forth coming Amarnath Yatra festival in July, August. It requires special mention that devotees were able to distribute several copies of Srila Prabhupada transcendental books including Bhagvad-Gita As It Is.
