WORLD March 28, 2000 VNN5765 Related VNN Stories GBC Policy More Important Than Truth BY SHYAMASUNDARA DASA KRSNA-BALARAM MANDIR - VRINDAVAN, INDIA, Mar 28 (VNN) — On Tuesday 21st March, the day after Gaura Purnima, Srimad Bhagavatam class was given by His Holiness Krsna Balaram Maharaja. Maharaja is the American bodied Krsna Balaram Maharaja who preaches in South-East Asia, not the Indian bodied ex-ISKCON Krsna Balaram Swami.
As Maharaja was concluding his class, which had held the audience of approximately 200 devotees in rapt attention, Gopal Krsna swami strode into the temple room and loudly shouted, "OK Maharaja, time's up. Stop the class. That's it. No more classes from you." During his class, Krsna Balaram Maharaja had explained very nicely how Krsna is more concerned about offences to His devotees than He is about offences against Himself, and also how the solution to the problems of the world is to purify our own hearts. Maharaja substantiated his presentation with slokas, and nice quotes from Srila Prabhupada's purports. A devotee asked a question about the difference between fault-finding & discrimination, & during his answer, Maharaja explained how Srila Prabhupada's books have been changed by Jaiadvaita Swami - not just grammatical changes, but changes to the meaning. At this point, Prabhavisnu Swami slipped out from the class. Krsna Balaram Maharaja continued to answer questions, including one question from a devotee who expressed misgivings about remaining committed to ISKCON given the history of devotees being banned from ISKCON by so-called devotees for the crime of upholding the truth. Maharaja answered very reassuringly that the truth will alsways remain victorious, and illustrated his answer with reference to the murder of Sulocana Prabhu in LA. A short while after Prabhavisnu swami's sneaky exit, Gopal Krsna swami strode into the temple room, interrupted Krsna Balaram Maharaja, and vented his anger. Krsna Balaram Maharaja humbly concluded the class. Devotees were devestated by this offfensive outburst. But Gopal Krsna swami had clearly demonstrated all that Maharaja had spoken of during his class, and as GBC for Vrindavan, Gopal Krsna swami clearly acted according to GBC Policy.
