WORLD January 4, 2000 VNN5213 Comment on this story An Appeal To Philanthropists BY GEETA ASHRAMA INDIA, Jan 4 (VNN) — Om Namo Bhagavate Vasu Devay Namah SRI MAHARSHI VEDA VYAS SANSKRIT, VEDA, AGAMA MAHA VIDALAYA (Reged.) GEETA ASHRAMA (ORPHANS-CUM-DESTITUTE HOME) #79, 1st 'A' Main 5th Cross, ISRO Layout, Bangalore - 560 078 This orphan-cum-destitute home was started in 1980, with only 5 children. Today this home houses nearly 100 orphans and detitutes in the age group of 5-25 years from various part of India. Besides providing them free boarding, the Home takes care of their medical needs, clothing, their Sanskrit, Veda, Agama and academic education. The only source of meeting these needs of this Home is through our begging bowl. Swami Krishnand Saraswati who was founded and nurtured this institution is known for his lucid exposition of Religio-cultural ideas to masses in Kannada, Hindi, English, telugu and Oriya. He has dedicated his everything to mobilize resources to meet the needs of the Home. the Home to date has not received any aid either from State or Central Government. The student though living entirely in the atmosphere of Gurukula are also being coached in sanskrit education and Vedas to appear for the Sanskrit examinations conducted by Govt. of Karnataka, besides being coached separetly to appear privetly for S.S.L.C. examination. and some students are attending colleges, too. Activities: (1) The Ashrama and Gurukula's main emphasis has been on discipline and creativity. the daily routine begins at : 4.00 a.m.Rising Bell 4.30 to 5.00 a.m.Meditation 5.15 to 6.15 a.m.Veda classes for junior and senior students 6.15 to 7.15 a.m.Puja Vidhi for students 7.15 to 9.00 a.m.Upanishads, Bhagavadgita, Gayatri mantra,Ashtakshri Mantra, Panchakshari and Surya namaskaras 1.00 to 2.00 p.m.Lunch and Rest 2.00 to 4.30 p.m.Syllabus for acadedmic students like S.S.L.C. 4.30 to 5.30 p.m.Yogasanas and games 5.30 to 6.00 p.m.Evening bath 6.00 to 7.00 p.m.Satsanga, Bhajans Accompanied by Musical Instruments 7.00 to 7.30 p.m.Dinner 7.45 to 9.30 p.m.Study for junior 7.45 to 10.00 p.m.Study for Seniors 10.00 p.m.Deepanirvana (2) The Ashrama arranges religious discourses in Kannada, telugu, Hindi and English in the City and other places, through Swami Krishnanand Saraswati as well as through the students. (3) The Ashrama conducts coaching of Gita Chanting and Veda Classes in rural areas and suburbs. We are sure the religious-minded souls and philanthropists agree with our view that the above activites serve the divine cause which need the co-operation of the esteemed enlightened public like you. As you know, the present condition of Sanatana Dharma and value-based education is slowly on a declining curve in the Nation's cultural graph.
