Lord Narasimhadeva Abducted During L. A. Rathayatra!

BY NISCINTYA DAS

USA, Aug 5 (VNN) — Culprits abscond with Lord Siva Lingama as well.

It is with great sorrow and anxiety that I make the following report. On Sunday, August 1st as all of the assembled devotees were attending the Los Angeles Rathayatra Festival, someone gained entry into my apartment across from the LA Temple and abducted the Deity of Lord Narasimhadeva. The same culprit or culprits also absconded with the Lord Siva Lingama from the altar. From evidence left at the scene, it is apparent that a very misguided devotee is behind this most abominable and offensive act.

Members of the greater New Dwaraka community are devastated by this terrible tragedy. Since Sunday evening devotees have been gathering throughout the day and night to remember the wonderful pastimes of Their Lordships and the untold hours of service rendered throughout the years. Both Deities were elaborately worshiped at all times and especially during the time of Nrsingha Caturdasi and Siva Ratri every year.

Anyone even remotely familiar with these Deities will know of Their extensive history and influence within the New Dwaraka community as well as the elaborate worship offered by innumerable devotees over the past ten years. In fact, many prominent LA Temple leaders readily acknowledge and directly credit Lord Narasingadeva for keeping the LA Airport open for book distribution in the face of practically insurmountable legal obstacles.

As Their Lordships were regularly worshiped, it is now likely that offenses to Their Lotus Feet will astronomically increase as a direct result of the likely interruption of their regular service and puja.

Literally dozens of devotees have now been alerted to this critical situation and many are actively searching far and wide for the culprit(s) responsible. The Los Angeles Police Department is also investigating this crime.

The Lord Narasimhadeva Deity stands at about ten inches tall and is formed out of gold plated brass. The Lord Siva Lingama is approximately ten inches tall, brown in color and is adorned with redish purple rose markings. Anyone with any information please contact Nischintya Das (ACBSP) at telephone number 310.839.1491, or by e-mail at Nischintya@oxfordlaw.com. Anonymity will be respected and all leads are appreciated. Hare Krishna.
