The Passing Of Sri Rama Dasa

BY KIRTIRAJA DASA

USA, Jan 3 (VNN) — Dear Prabhus,

Hare Krishna. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.

It is with a sad heart that I inform the devotee community worldwide of the passing of Sri Rama dasa, a longtime disciple of Srila Prabhupada. Sri Rama prabhu departed at approximately 8:00 pm on Saturday December 31st at his home in Citrus Heights, California.

A notice was sent out on November 28th, informing devotees that Sri Rama prabhu was hospitalized in critical condition with heart failure, kidney failure and pneumonia. He was on life support systems and the devotees were asked to pray for him. Sri Rama remained in critical condition but then there was improvement. He was released from the hospital and returned home on Saturday, the 10th of December. I spoke with Sri Rama prabhu on about the 12th of December and he surprisingly sounded quite strong and in good spirits. He complained about having been in the hospital and he was glad to be home. On Thursday the 29th of December his condition worsened and pneumonia reappeared. He was scheduled to return to the hospital on Monday the 2nd of January.

For the last three years, Sri Rama prabhu's health has been very bad. More than a year ago he suffered a stroke which left him partially debilitated.

His wife, Narayani dasi, had been caring for him the whole time. Due to his condition, neither he nor his wife were able to work. Anyone who is interested in contributing towards the cost of his funeral and cremation or who would like to assist his wife financially, can send a donation to: Mrs.

Nellie Klimek, 6016 Sunrise Vista Drive. Apt. #64, Citrus Heights, California 95610. Narayani dasi's phone number is 916-705-7621. Please continue to pray for Sri Rama and for the ongoing well being of his wife. It is hoped that his ashes will be able to be sent to either Vrindaban or Mayapur but financial assistance is required for this to happen. Please help if you can. Thank you very much.

Hare Krishna.

Your servant,

Kirtiraja dasa
