ITV Goes Solar

BY NRSIMHANANDA DASA

USA, Sep 27 (VNN) — The sun god, Vivisvana, is directly powering ITV's duplication and editing facility in Topanga Canyon, California. The Pyramid Center has finally lived up to its billing as a solar energy pyramid house since its construction twenty-three years ago. ITV has made its home here for the past five years. There are two editing suites and a duplication/office facility.

California has some of the highest electric rates in the nation. Power consumption is a major part of ITV's limited budget. Harnessing the rays of sunlight has produced even more electricity than ITV needs to operate. The excess is sent onto the grid, and the electric company pays retail rates for whatever is produced. The installation was made possible by a state rebate program that returns half the cost of the system back to the owner. Many states in the U.S. have adopted a subsidy for solar installations.

The solar installation had immediate local impact. Neighbors on both sides of the Pyramid property contracted for solar panels of their own. The Topanga Messenger newspaper sent its photographer and reporter to herald the project. Many people got a chance to learn about Krishna consciousness through the publicity.

ITV would like to see some aspiring videophile produce a program based on the book, Divine Nature published by the BBT. There is a ample devotional service available to those who are interested in protecting our mother, Bhumidevi, and friends in the ecological/green movements would benefit greatly by being in contact with devotees. Please contact us if you are interested in producing a Krishna conscious ecological program.

The latest show to be released by ITV is Journey to Ahobilam which features Sri Nrsimha bhakta, Dhruva. He is a very experienced guide to the nine places of pilgrimage at the place Hiranyakashipu was vanquished. Part of that famous pillar is still standing in the jungle. HH Indradumya Swami first wrote about it in the Back to Godhead magazine twenty years ago. The documentary can be ordered from the web site: http://www.itvproductions.net.
