Ojai Janmastami Aug 8th!

BY MAYESVARA DASA

OJAI, Aug 2 (VNN) — Ojai Janmastami Aug 8th! You are Invited!

Ojai Janmastami Festival Wed Aug.8th 7.30PM 206 Aliso Street Ojai, CA. (805) 640-0405

Dear Friend,

Please accept my respects.

This year August 12, is the exact astrological date for celebrating Janmastami, the "Appearance Day Festival of Lord Sri Krishna". In Ojai we will celebrate it on Wednesday evening Aug. 8th for a variety of pragmatic reasons. I am sending you this letter as a personal invitation and hope you will find the time to come to this nice event on this festive occasion. I apologize for not being able to maintain the Krishna Conscious programs that many of you have come to enjoy at 687 Villanova Road. Because of difficulties that were thrust upon me, it was simply not possible for me to co-ordinate nice gatherings at my home for the last three years. Now however those difficulties are finally getting resolved and all sorts of great opportunities await implementation! I am considering many new and creative ways to share the extraordinary message of Bhagavad-Gita As It Is with you all, and I am interested in your input to help me formulate what serves our dedicated community the best.

For myself I feel that as I move through the different stages of life the eternal truth found in the divine words of Lord Krishna become more and more apparent every day. Here is verse that best applies to this discussion:

"The thoughts of my devotees dwell in Me, their lives are fully devoted to My service, and they derive great satisfaction and bliss enlightening one another and conversing about me." -Bg 10-9.

The message of Godhead sooths the soul and fills the heart but there are not enough places where one can go to hear that message. The Vedas inform us that Spiritual live is a very sublime science. We can all benefit from that science tremendously if we are simply willing to listen attentively and start to integrate that wonderful process into our life. Whether you are a Vedic scholar or just a neophyte, I encourage you to share with me your perspective on these thoughts as I design a new program that will lead us all back to restoring our lost Relationship with Krishna, our Dear-Most Friend. If you are unable to attend Janmastami on Aug 8th, perhaps you would be kind enough to contact me by phone, e-mail, or post so I can consider you opinions and appreciate your ideas.

Thank you!

Celebrate The Appearance Day Of Krishna With Food, Song & Mantra

Many people have somehow improperly concluded that the ancient Vedic literatures from India suggest that enlightenment requires the individual to give up desires and abandon all concept of the self. The Vedas do present such ideas as one of the processes of yoga, but a careful study reveals that these guidelines are simply stepping-stones that culminate in reestablishing ones dormant loving relationship with Krishna, The Supreme Personality Of Godhead. This point is stressed throughout the Bhagavad Gita and specifically addressed in Chapter six, which concludes when Krishna unequivocally declaring that: "My devotee is the Greatest of all the Yogies".

So if you have not already begun to re-awaken your loving relationship with the Supreme Personality of Godhead, Lord Sri Krishna, why not come join us in the wonderful Janmastami celebration that honors His historic appearance in this universe approximately 5000 years ago? This FREE program will include festive music, delicious vegetarian food, informative conversation, and entertaining transcendental videos.

Guests are encouraged to bring vegetarian food, flowers, incense or even just good thoughts to offer to Krishna as He Himself recommends in the Bhagavad Gita 9.26. Questions and newcomers are both welcome and encouraged. Anyone inspired to help make this auspicious occasion more festive is encouraged to contact us with your ideas.

"Always think of Me, become My devotee, worship Me and offer your homage unto Me. Thus you will come to Me without fail. I promises you this because you are My very dear friend." - BG 18.65
