Popular Musicians Help Preaching in Brazil

Brazil (VNN) - by B.A. Paramadvaiti Swami

Preaching Gets the Help of Popular Musicians such as Gilberto Gil, Gal Costa, Caetano Veloso, Tomas Lima and Others.

An offering was made to Krishna- the Supreme Spiritual Master, by the most popular musicians of Brazil. They were inspired by Raghunath das, a Brazilian preacher of 20 years. The verses of the Bhagavat Gita appear in different Brazilian folk tunes offering a great variety of styles and melodies on the music CD. Sold in every bookstore together with a copy of the Bhagavat Gita, the first edition of 10000 copies sold out within a few days. Gal Costa's song about the verse, "patram puspam..." became a top hit and is constantly aired on the radio.

This is an unprecedented accomplishment. Raghunath das was a key philosopher in the Sixties of the Brazilian movement called "Tropicalism." Thus, he earned himself the friendship of all searching intellectuals. After becoming a devotee, he personally visited all important friends to come and understand the greatness of Sri Krishna, who is transcendental to the whole world from Hollywoodism to Tropicalism. Now his service has brought the most beautiful offering of musical flowers. Raghunath das has also studied Sanskrit and teaches in Brasilia Vedic teachings in the University.
