WORLD March 24, 1999 VNN3409 Narayana Maharaja Visits Murwillimbah (2) BY SRIDAM SAKHA DASA  AUSTRALIA, Mar 24 (VNN) — Sri Srimad Bhaktivedanta Narayana Maharaja Visits Murwillimbah Australia, Part 2So, Srila Narottama das Thakura is praying that, "When will that day come when we will chant, '"Hari hari"' and tears will come"? But these tears will not come when you have so many material desires, and are engaged in worldly life. If you call out 'O Krsna!' at that time He will not come, nor will tears come. So how we can practice this? ara kabe nitai-candera koruna hoibe "Oh, if you want to chant the names of 'Gaura-hari' with tears in your eyes and with melting heart, then you should take shelter of the lotus feet of Nityananda prabhu. Without doing this, you will not be able to achieve it." Lord Nityananda is the undivided guru-tattva, akhanda-guru-tattva. Our gurudeva is a manifestation of that Lord Nityananda Prabhu, Baladeva Prabhu. He is not different to Nityananda prabhu. But those who are very fallen, falling ten times, lakhs times a day are not guru, they are very bogus. Their heart cannot touch Krsna. They will not cry by chanting hare Krsna or gauranga bolite habe pulaka sarira, never. They are not touching this transcendental name and that is why they are falling now. Today people are saying that before these gurus fell down they were elevated. But they were never elevated. Never, never. Truly elevated persons can never fall down-never! So we should not be worried for this. But if we have unknowingly accepted these impure persons as guru, then we should reject them, oh, very quickly, in one second: avaisnavopadistena mantrena nivayam vrajet punas-ca vidhina sabhyag grahayed-vaisnavad-guroh (Hari-bhakti-vilasa 4.366) Our scripture is telling like this. The purpose of our life is to realize Krsna and to give our heart to Him. Only those who will help me to do this are my guru, others are not. It is a very simple thing. A real guru wants to give you love and affection to Krsna, he does not want to be given garlands, fruits, garments and to take your money. He is undivided in Lord Nityananda. Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu first gave his mercy to Jagai but He would not give it to Madhai. (Jagai had tried to prevent Madai from striking Lord Nityananda) But Lord Nityananda told Him 'If you're not giving your mercy to Madhai then I'll be so worried. You've come to give your mercy to all. I'm happy that he struck me, no matter, so be merciful to him also. So Lord Nityananda is more merciful than Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. Why? samsara-davanala-lidha-loka-tranaya karunya-ghanaghanatvam praptasya kalyana-gunarnavasya vande guroh sri-caranaravinda Because He is the embodiment of mercy of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu and Radha-Krsna. He will not fall - ever! He has never fallen and He is not fallen now. He is transcendental. His mercy is transcendental. His name is Transcendental. We can put our full faith in Him. If any guru is truly following and obeying the path of Nityananda prabhu, he should be maintained as guru; otherwise not. If he is not in line-totally in line with Nityananda prabhu -he cannot be guru. He may be so learned; he may be so opulent. But actually he is not Guru. So Srila Narottama das Thakura is saying: ara kabe nitai-candera koruna hoibe "'When the mercy will come from Nityananda prabhu' samsara-vasana more kabe tuccha habe "Then our worldly desires will go away.' "Very quickly Nityananda prabhu's mercy will come. So we should try to pray for His mercy through our guru -but bona fide guru, qualified guru. "The symptoms of bona fide guru are explained in Srimad Bhagavatam and all the epics: tasmad gurum prapadyeta jijnasuh sreya uttamam sabde pare ca nisnatam brahmany upasamasrayam "We should go to someone who is renounced and a scholar in the Vedas sastras, these are some symptoms of a bonafide guru. But these are secondary symptoms, the primary symptom is that he has realization of Krsna, how Krsna and His name are the same. If there is only a little realization of this, no harm, but without this, he is not a guru at all. A guru is realized, he knows all the sastras, he can remove the doubts of his disciples, and he has no desires such as we have. Otherwise, how is he a guru? Judge for yourself. It is not such a high thing, you can easily understand. If he is giving bogus instructions 'Oh if you go to hear from another vaisnava what will I do? You should stay, giving me delicious foods, pratistha (prestige) money' then at once reject him. If this so-called guru wants money and reputation, and is the owner of big houses with comforts, cars, one lakh dollar bank balance and with no taste in his guru's teaching, then he is no use. But when real guru shows his mercy to us all desires will be gone except to serve vaisnavas and Krsna. By his mercy it will become our only endeavour. We will give up karma, jnana, yoga and tapasya, rejecting them all. With the spontaneous activities of mind, body and intelligence our only mood will be to serve vaisnava and Krsna. By the mercy of Lord Nityananda all desires will go. But if we're not praying to Lord Nityananda, then more desires will come. so we should try to please Him. 'visaya chadiya kabe, suddha ha'be mana kabe hama herabo sri vrndavana' When our material desires have gone, then we will see where we are. We'll see a very beautiful transcendental Vrndavana with Radha and Krsna conjugal accompanied by their gopas and gopis like Lalita, Visakha, Citra and others. Sometimes in Radha kunda, Syama kunda, Bandhirvana, sometimes in Nandagaon. How beautiful is Vrndavana. "Even if we become free of desires by the mercy of Lord Nityananda, still, without the mercy of Srila Rupa gosvami we cannot see this. So Lord Nityananda should be merciful to us so that we can obtain the feet dust of Srila Rupa gosvami. Like Srila Krsna das kaviraja is saying in Caitanya caritamrta, 'By Lord Nityananda's mercy I came to Vrndavana. Very easily Srila Rupa gosvami and Srila Raghunatha das gosvami became my gurus.' Without their mercy you cannot realize very sweet, fragrant Vrndavana. They're Rupa and Rati manjari. Lalita and Visakha are very high, but manjaris have so much power. For example, you cannot see the president, but if you go to his maid, his house maid who is sweeping and cleaning his house, then she'll introduce you very easily. Even his personal secretary cannot do this. The maid of the President can see him at any time, even if he is only wearing a towel before going to shower. So these manjaris are more powerful than Lalita and Visakha. At times when Lalita and Visakha cannot go to Radha and Krsna, very easily these manjaris can, to fan Them with peacock feathers and camara. And when Krsna asks, 'Oh, who are these young girls?' 'Oh, these are *my* friends.' Then Krsna will accept you, and He will give his whole mercy. Rupa and Raghunath are like this. So you'll have to take shelter of them. They are like treasurers. Without their mercy we cannot realize even 'ABC'. How are they always serving? radha-krsna-guna-smrter madhurimanandena sammohitau vande rupa-sanatanau raghu-yugau sri-jiva-gopalakau (The six gosvamis were always enchanted, feeling transcendental happiness in remembering the sweet qualities of Radha and Krsna yugal) Our Swamiji, Our revered Swamiji, Bhaktivedanta Swami, he would very frequently sing this kirtan with tears in his eyes. Always-He was very fond of this song. "When will I see Vrndavana by the mercy of Rupa and Ragunath?" rupa-raghunath-pade hoibe akuti kabe hama bujhabo se yugala-piriti [4] "You cannot see. "But when more mercy of Rupa and Ragunath will come, then you can realize, you can taste-"what is this Vrndavana" yugala-rasa yugala piriti. Yugala-piriti means Krsna is the object of love and Srimati Radhika is the highest abode of that love. sri-rupa-raghunatha-pade yara asa caitanya-caritamrta kahe krsnadasa So by their mercy you can realize and taste Vrndavana, yugal rasa, yugala piriti, what is the love between Krsna, the object of love, and Radharani the abode of love. Even Krsna Himself wants to realize these things. He is the master of all rasas, He knows everything. Sometimes he tastes one rasa, sometimes so many. He is atma rama, apta kama. He is Himself rasa. But He does not have the para rasa which is in the supreme container, Srimati Radharani. She has such a high class of love and affection which even He wants to realize, madan bhava. This madan is only in Srimati Radharani, it makes Krsna dance. So to relish this, Krsna came in the shape of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu. This is a very high subject, I want to give a sprinkle of it to you, so try to realize all these things. I have not come to give vaidhi, you already know it. sravanam kirtanam visnoh smaranam pada-sevanam arcanam vandanam dasyam sakhyam atma-nivedanam "I want to give you a little of this. Don't worry for family maintenance. If you surrender to Krsna, he will take care of it much better than you can. He has promised: 'I'll take what you require on My head and serve you.' So why are you so much worried for these things? Be like us, we are never worried. (indicating gifts of bhoga at his feet) Some are bringing fruits some are bringing flowers so why be worried. Krsna should be worried for that. rupa-raghunath-pade hoibe akuti kabe hama bujhabo se yugala-piriti [4] "If you're taking shelter in the feet of Srila Rupa gosvami and Srila Raghunatha das gosvami they'll give what is in their heart, an ocean of conjugal rasa. Their treasury is pure love and affection. What kind - friendship, vatsalya? No. Only unnata-ujjvala-rasa which Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu came to distribute, we can have that and our lives will be successful. "'O Srila Rupa gosvami and Srila Raghunatha das gosvami I'm praying at your lotus feet, you are my only hope, I want nothing else.' Can you pray like this? If you do you'll have all these things by the next morning. You should try to take all these things and to follow them and then you will be happy. If you do then you will be in Vrndavana at the lotus feet of Rupa and Ragunatha, at the lotus feet of Nityananda. I've only come to remind you of these subjects.
