BY MURARI CHAITANYA DASA HEALTH, Dec 30 (VNN) — A devotee asks various questions on the effectiveness and appropriateness of Ayurveda in Kali Yuga, and other topics. "The question is about the efficiency of Ayurveda in modern age of kali yuga --modern diseases like cancer, aids, etc..." Shuddha Ayurveda is eternal and thus effective in every age. In fact, it is specifically recommended for Kali Yuga. We have treated patients with cancer, osteoporosis, diabetes, aids, mental imbalances, etc., with better results than they previously obtained through allopathy. "When I say I don't like the philosophy, I like practice, I was referring to the modern age and modern drugs, not to the tradition. I look in present time not past, India in past was very rich and great but look now. You have long time experience on Ayurveda. CAN AYURVEDA REPLACE modern western MEDICINE in Pharmacology and Diagnostic. please be objective?" Ayurveda is ordained by the Lord as the system of medicine for this and every age. That should be sufficient for devotees. However, even from the material standpoint Ayurveda is superior. In pharmacology, Ayurvedic medicines have withstood the test of time, and are now being incorporated into allopathic practice at a very rapid rate. Ayurvedic diagnosis can take place in any one of the six stages of disease, while allopathy can only diagnose in the last two. You decide, then, which is the superior system. "What is the most important part in Ayurveda?" Dependence on the Lord and adherence to His instructions. I'm not being "philosophical" here. After almost 20 years of practice, this is my informed conclusion. "What is a most important drug in Ayurveda?" It depends on the patient and the condition. In Ayurveda, almost all substances can be utilized medicinally. But to answer your question more directly, Ayurveda states that right diet is the best medicine. In fact, "without right diet, no drug will be effective, and with right diet, no drug is necessary." "Is IRIS diagnostic coming from Ayurveda?" No. There is eye examination in Ayurveda, but it is not relied upon to a large extent. Visible lesions and signs on the eyes are difficult to time appropriately, and one is bound to make mistakes. Furthermore, iris diagnosis often requires technological equipment (cameras, film, etc.), and that is considered ugra-karma. "In Practical Guide "The science of self healing" from Dr Lad page 44 says: iF ONE TAKES A CUP OF URINE PASSED IN MIDSTREAM EVERY MORNING IT WILL HELP TO CLEANSE AND DETOXIFY THE LARGE INTESTINE. your comment." Dr Lad utilizes many tantric practices, as he was a disciple of an Aghori guru known as Bapu. Although many things can be used with some success, Shuddha Ayurveda is content to use only what is in strict concordance with guru, sadhu and sastra. Human urine, even one's own, is not to be ingested. It can, however, be used externally in cases of stings by certain acquatic animals. "maybe my questions are ignorant but for me are important" No question is ever ignorant, Prabhu. The ignorant do not ask questions, only the wise. "I hope that ayurveda has not become some show business like Prabhupada was many times telling to use I hope that there is still some light in darkage" Ayurveda has indeed become show business, particularly in the USA and western Europe, under the commercialism of Chopra and such others. But that does not detract from the pure (Shuddha) Ayurveda. This is our humble service.
