USA May 18, 1999 VNN3891 Malati's Last Letter BY MAHAVEGAVATI DASI USA, May 18 (VNN) — Dear Assembled Vaisnavas Hare Krsna. AGT HDG AC Bhaktivedanta Swami Srila Prabhupada. PAMHO I am submitting this scanned in copy of the last letter Malati Dasi threw on my lap during Srila Prabhupada's Gurupuja, which I received AFTER discovering that Malati and/or Yamuna dasi, (her second in command), had stolen two of my Govardhana Silas from the alter. (I was forced to give them the Varsana Sila Who I worshipped as consort to Radha-Raman, one of the Govardhana Silas stolen. I returned a copy of the letter with my comments to Malati before I left Columbus on May 9th. (The comments are included below but are modified grammatically - i.e. using Malati's name instead of "you" when I wrote the comments to her.) The scanned in copy of the letter did not pick up the hand signed names; thus they are not included in this copy. I have numbered the statements to which I have added some comments at the end. I received this letter after having returned from going to hear from Narayan Maharaj in Miami, and AFTER my submitting a letter to Malati in which I informed her that I would be leaving by the end of May, having paid my rent up till that time. That letter, (handwritten), submitted to Malati in early April, and later also submitted to VNN, can be referred to. Malati's gripe with me was that I told various devotees about some personal experiences I had encountered while serving under Bhaktitirtha Swami for the ten years that I had served under his jurisdiction. Malati ordered me that I was "not allowed" to speak to anyone about my experiences, and I violated her order. I was later informed by one of the devotees after my having received this letter that Malati's REAL reason for wanting me to leave was because 1) She needed the room that I was renting to accommodate four sanyasis, (Radhanath Maharaj, Devamrita Swami, Candramauli Swami and Candrasekhar Maharaj) who came to spend some time in Columbus, and 2) Bhaktitirtha Swami wanted to come to Columbus but would not come as long as I was there since he was concerned I might expose in public what he had done to me personally, and he expressed this to Malati. Thus the letter which follows, in which, sadly, Malati did not speak honestly. TO MAHA VEGA VATI DASI: May 5 1999 PLEASE NOTE: 1)WHEREAS you have been expressing strong dissatisfaction with the ashram in Columbus (saying it was like a prison, etc) 2)WHEREAS you have expressed your dislike of the members here (even to the point of using the word "hate" ) 3)WHEREAS you have privately, publicly, in printed documents on VNN, in letters, and on the phone expressed your dislike of ISKCON and its leaders 4)WHERES you appear to have no discretion in speaking to persons unknown to you concerning your criticisms, and to persons younger in age and experience to you, and to disciples of the guru's which you are criticizing 5)WHEREAS the major majority of persons whom you are approaching do not wish to be approached by you in this manner 6)WHEREAS we do not have the abilities, finances, and experience to assist you and your special needs 7)WHEREAS this situation has become offensive on both sides 8)WHEREAS the members of this ashram no longer wish to be afflicted by your various manners of verbal attacks 9)WHEREAS we hold no lease with you, nor have you paid the May rent 10)WHEREAS you requested untruthful rent receipts from us 11)The temple management has therefore decided the following restrictions and changes are to be implemented for the mutual benefit and protection of both parties (you & the members of this ashram, our guests,and others): 12)Your sheelas must be removed from the main altar and to lived and be worshipped privately at your residence (this is to avoid further gross offences on both sides which affect this entire ashram). 13)The above is effective immediately, as of this morning following your puja, they must not be returned to the main altar or anywhere else in the temple compound. 14)That you only come to the temple for prasad and programs. 15)That you vacate the room at 403 w 8th Ave by 12:00 PM Thursday May 20th (15 days) 16)That we do not want any rental fees during this time. 17)That we will retroactively adjust proper rental receipts Through a notary. to reflect the actual amount received. 18)That we wish you well in your future endeavors, and submit our humble apologies against all offences at your feet. 19)That the above decisions are firm and irrevocable, and are reflective of the temple management. YOUR SERVANTS FROM COLUMBUS KRISHNA HOUSE, Malati dd Yamuna dd Dola Yatra dd Comments to various statements in the letter: 1) I never said that, "prison", but Malati must have read my mind. She was right. (I think Malati got that word from Premavati when she screamed at Yamuna telling her that she wanted to leave, "right now" and said, "This is a prison. I don't want to stay here anymore. I want to leave here 'right now'. It is a prison," and Premavati was on a bus to Boston within one hour. 2) I have never expressed my "dislike" of the members of the Columbus ashram. I liked the girls there. If I have any criticism of the ladies there it is only that I feel that sometimes they purposely try to push out that which they really see. Almost ALL of them with the exception of two of the ladies have come to me with their difficulties in their interaction with Malati. They came to me either just trying to relieve their minds of the stress, or they came, asking if I could speak to Malati and try to get her to change. I NEVER used the word "hate", and I never "hated" anyone. I do "hate" the fact that Malati lies, but there is a difference in "hating" the sin, but NOT the sinner. 3) I have expressed my "dislike" of the wrongs that are committed by various ISKCON leaders. Even Mother Bhumi, (SB 8.20.4) can not bear the weight of a liar. When our ISKCON leaders lie, I definitely DON'T like it. As far as VNN goes, 1) I have a right to speak the truth, and I DID speak the truth about Romapada Swami. 2) Malati, you yourself told me when you defended your "righ" to lie to Sesa, "Why don't you go and sue Bhaktitirtha Swami in court. Why don't you go to VNN and write your story?" Prabhu, are you going to lie and deny this like you lied to Sesa? I simply wrote the truth on VNN. What is your problem? Maybe you should try to get the GBC leaders, including yourself to become honest in their dealings with devotees. I will say it publicly right here and now, I DON'T like the lies, the duplicity, the dishonesty that some, (if not many), of the ISKCON leaders employ. I don't like your GESTAPO tactics either. I tried my best to tolerate your intimidations, shouting, cutting words, false accusations, and worst of all, your lying. Yes Malati, you are a liar. I did not want to believe this, and all along I tried to convince myself that what I thought I was seeing in you was not true, but you PROVED me wrong when I saw it SO plainly, your PURPOSEFUL LYING to Sesa prabhu. Thus, you have implicated yourself. Krsna KNOWS the facts even if everyone else is fooled by your position, shouting, etc. 4) I have never criticized a guru to his disciples. If you are talking about the fact that I wrote a letter to VNN supporting Arjuna prabhu's article, "The Real Romapada Swami", then you should understand that VNN is a public forum to which anyone can submit an article. Disciples of our Godbrothers read at their own "risk" as it is possible something may be written by a Godsibling about one of the guru Godbrothers. This is a problem within ISKCON, that there is NO forum that will PROPERLY, (fairly) address an issue involving a Prabhupada disciple who has been victimized by a GBC or guru Godbrother, (or now, Godsister). Prabhu, I think you forget that these temples are maths that were set up by Srila Prabhupada, and it seems that they have now been taken over by the GBC and guru Godbrothers, who whenever they feel like it, will kick out legitimate disciples of Srila Prabhupada. Use your brain, do you think Srila Prabhupada would like what is going on in HIS temples presently? 6) Malati, this is a crock of garbage. WHERE have I ever required anything special from you? I have paid my rent EVERY month and I have contributed laksmi EVERY month to the temple and whenever there were special feasts for the temple. I have NEVER expressed any "special needs" nor have I EVER been given or accepted ANY laksmi, (or anything) from you. Prabhu, if you remember correctly, I did NOT want to come here, and told you that when you asked me to come. Finally on YOUR INSISTANCE, I AGREED to come. If ANY of your women there are bold enough to speak truthfully, (being that they all are SO afraid of you), they will ALL say that I NEVER required, nor was given any "special" needs or treatment. Whatever I "needed" I took care of and took nor asked ANY help from you or the temple. My "needs" were NO DIFFERENT from that of any other member of your ashram, and I paid ALL of my own finances. I also contributed laksmi to the temple to assist with your finances. I am amazed that you go this far in your lies, and you DARE to implicate others names in this by having them sign these false statements, and you force your girls to support YOUR FALSITY be coercing them through their FEAR of you. 7) Other than my finally beginning to answer you and Yamuna back when you both make false accusations, (if you are considering that to be "offensive" since you demand absolute power), I don't see where it is that I have been offensive. I do have to agree though, that you have been very offensive, but I have forgiven you all along for that. I have to admit though, it was becomming a lot more difficult to take a humble position - ie. not speaking back to you - as time went on and your lies increased. You have reached the point of offense that you would allow my Silas to be stolen. THAT is pretty low. 8) Prabhu, are you THAT deluded? I have NEVER verbally attacked anyone. You REGULARLY attacked me and got your second in command to do this also. Come on prabhu, where did you get this one from. Don't go that low. 9) May's rent was paid. I gave the check for April to Dolayatra. Later Yamuna told me that she and Dolayatra could not find it, so I paid the April rent in cash and a receipt was given. The check was cashed by either you, Yamuna or Dolayatra while I was in NYC. THAT covered the May rent. You KNEW that, since the letter I gave to you in early April specifically said to use that check towards the rent for May if - since Yamuna told me that they lost it - it got found, which it did, and got cashed on April 13th. If you want the copy of the April receipt and the check which got cashed later, I can send you both of them. 10) Prabhu, I paid you the rent you told me to pay and I was receipted me for the rent paid. Why do you insist on this lying? 12) I had already taken the Silas off and had NO plan to put Them back on the alter, but you requested me in January to put Them back on. Now you and/or Yamuna stole two of my Govardhana Silas. Bad, bad, bad!!!!! 14) I already stopped coming, except to offer puja. I got sick of being attacked by you and Yamuna with all of your FALSE accusations and allegations. 15) I already informed you in my letter to you that I would be out before the end of May. I was informed that you are stipulating this as the date, because you want Bhaktitirtha Swami to come and that he will not come if I am here because he is concerned that I may expose him publicly for what he did to me. (I was also told that you needed the room I was renting for some sanyasis who were coming together, and that there was no other space for them to stay.) 16) I already paid the rent for the full month of May. Don't try to play this game of benevolency with me. 17) You had better be careful trying to falsely adjust things. If I was nasty enough, I could turn you in to the the IRS, but I won't. 18) Thank you. I accept, and when you REALLY feel inclined to offer a genuine apology asking for forgiveness - as hopefully Krsna will open your eyes to the truth - I will hug you as I always did, even when you became so nasty in your dealings with me. I pray that Srila Prabhupada and Lord Sri Krsna will give you Their mercy in that eventually your eyes will become opened to the truth, and that you will stop becoming an accomplice to the offenses of your other Godbrother leaders. Maybe at some point we can come together and preach REAL Krsna consciousness to the unconscious devotees out there who have not yet begun their journey back to the Lotus Feet of Guru and Krsna.
