L.A. USA (VNN) - Last weekend Ram Parasar's wife gave birth to a stillborn baby, which means that her baby had died in the womb, just 2 weeks before it was due.
VNN reported recently of ISKCON L.A.'s attempt to evict Ram Parashar and his family from his temple apartment because of "philosophical" differences. On September 15th ISKCON won the first round in Municipal court, when the court granted ISKCON a Summary Judgment against Ram Parashar in an eviction hearing.
Some community members believe that the unusual stress of being evicted 2 weeks before she was scheduled to deliver her baby has caused the death of her child.
Many devotees and member of the Hindu community are outraged over the treatment of this devotee. Some say that by any standards it would be unthinkable to evict a pregnant woman just weeks before her baby is due to be born. What to speak of a society which claims to propagate "vedic" standards of moral and law, which is dedicated to the protection of the weak and vulnerable members of society, like women and children.
A candlelight vigil in support of Ram Parashar's family and his deceased baby will be held on:
Sunday the 11th at the L.A. ISKCON temple at 6 - 8 p.m.
