New York ISKCON Safe And Sound
BY NEW YORK ISKCON
USA, Sep 17 (VNN) Dear Devotees and Friends,
By the divine mercy of Sri Sri Radha-Govinda, both ISKCON temples in New York were unharmed.
Srila Prabhupada's Tirtha, located at 26 2nd Ave. was close to the accident in Lower Manhattan, but not in danger.
The main temple, Sri Sri Radha Govinda Mandir is located in Brooklyn, across the East River but in view of the World Trade Center. According to the devotees, they saw the fire and smoke from the temple rooftop. As soon as the attacks began, the devotees started to perform kirtan in the temple room. The Kirtan continued all day. Devotees and friends walked to the temple from lower Manhattan over the Brooklyn and Manhattan Bridges as the chaos continued. All the devotees are in good spirits, and HH Gopal Krsna Goswami, who was on his way to Russia, will remain in the New York City area till the airports reopen.
Because the relief efforts by the city agencies was immediate and enormous, city officials said that no more immediate help was required. But they asked everyone to pray for the victims.
We request all devotees and friends all over ther world to chant the Holy Names and pray for the well-being of the innocent people.
Your Servants, New York ISKCON
