Srila Narayan Maharaj In Eugene

USA, Apr 29 (VNN) — I attended the darshan of Narayan Maharaj tonight.
There was a nice marble murti of Srila Prabhupad that travels with them, and Narayan Maharaj talked about Srila Prabhupad with the highest admiration and praise.
His Grace was talking about Srila Prabhupad's Upadeshamrita; praising Prabhupad's excellent translation, and he had Aranya Maharaj explain each of the limbs described by Rupa Goswami as the basis of Bhakti for a Vaishnava, which he did in a very complete and scholarlarly way that was precise without being verbose or judgemental.
Then Narayan Maharaj explained the importance of staying Fixed-Up and chanting 16 rounds, and not falling down. "If you can make that standard then you have no worries, and no fears, and Krsna will take care of all your needs." He then described the different Bhakti Latas and how 'mixed' levels of devotion do not lead to the same destination as pure bhakti.
He explained that when he was with Srila Prabhupad in India, that Prabhupada was talking about when he would arrive in the West. He said that Srila Prabhupada was telling him how He was going to the Western Countries, and how He was planning to open Centers and Restaraunts. He said "I will open these places and if I have to I will serve them wine or meat - as long as they chant at least one mantra, and if I can get them to chant more then better."
He said that the Yuga Dharma is to get people to chant the Maha Mantra - any way you can!
He used to send Srila Prabhupad all the things he needed from India to the US - mrdungas, dieties etc.
Narayan Maharaj has over 300 letters from Srila Prabhupad! He was talking about how Prabhupad came to the West with nothing. He said, "I know, I saw him off on the boat and was so worried about him because he had nothing with him but some boxes of books - going to America alone."
He said, "But Srila Prabhupada was a pure devotee like Prahlad. He said Prahlad was thrown off of cliffs, put in fire, all these things and he said, "Well, Krsna will have to protect me." And that was Srila Prabhupad same attitude when he left for America, living fearless in the Bowery.
Then there was some excellent brijbasi kirtan from Manjari and then Agni Dev led an ecstatic kirtan. Narayan Maharaj got up and was dancing - he dropped twenty years off and was directing the kirtan in an expert fashion. It was refreshing, sincere and dynamic.
