USA April 11, 2000 VNN5835 Comment on this story Prabhupada Festival Canceled BY GURU-GOURANGA DASA LOS ANGELES, USA, Apr 11 (VNN) — The latest news out of Los Angeles is that the Annual Prabhupada Festival is canceled this year. Devotees who are just hearing the news are reacting in different ways and some in indifferent ways. If you want the Prabhupada festival to happen in Los Angeles please let your voice be heard one way or another! Calls and E-mails to LA ISKCON and/or articles supporting the worship of the pure devotee can be posted here on VNN and on the internet devotee sites.
A seminar about Srila Prabhupada is slated to be held instead. So far the idea has not received rave reviews. Devotees in Three Rivers California will be having a Prabhupada festival at around the same time. Stay tuned to VNN etc. for details. Many devotees say that the Prabhupada festival is the most ecstatic festival in America; besides the Rathayatra's. One devotee was sitting by the temple after the Sunday Love Feast, looking very upset and almost crying because he just heard about the Prabhupada festival being canceled. Another devotee was talking of starting a petition to try reinstate the festival; but decided against a petition when some of the devotees thought maybe all or some of the signers of any proposed petition could be 'blacklisted' by the ISKCON management and even kicked out if they signed a petition is support of having the Prabhupada Festival in LA as usual.
