LETTERS June 19, 2003 VNN8146 Related VNN Stories   Open Letter To Iskcon Lawyers BY A CONCERNED GURUKULI LETTERS, Jun 19 (VNN) — Dear Iskcon Lawyers, I understand that some individuals other than former children of Iskcon's schools have filed claims. I hope it is recognized that these people voluntarily involved themselves in Iskcon. Unlike the former Gurukula Children, these people had the ability to remove themselves at will. We however had no such option. In many cases these Adults were negligent in putting us into these abusive situations and obviously share the burden of guilt. They refused to believe us and did not protect us when we turned to them for help. Rather they validated our abusers, and in my case, actively removed me from a safe environment and put me back in the cluthches of Abusers. Taking advantage of the financial oppurtunitiy, these same people are filing claims against Iskcon. It would be unjust to compensate people who voluntarily involved themselves at the expense of those who had no choice, no way out and no escape from the horrific abuse of Iskcon's Gurukul School system. Please consider the claims of the former children of Isckon's schools above and beyond these other claims. I for one would be outraged if my compensation was minimized because of these other claims. If such individuals have a grievance they should file their own case rather than piggy backing on our suffering.
