EDITORIAL June 9, 1999 VNN4067 See Related VNN Stories | Comment on this story Not Inaccuracy But Neutrality BY SAKSI GOPAL DAS EDITORIAL, Jun 9 (VNN) — An open letter to Tamal Krsna Gosvami Maharaja Dear Maharaja dandavats agtSP. For many years now you have been held in great veneration by so many of us neophytes, in fact we have secretly and publicly acknowledged you as one of the most influential figures within Iskcon and possibly the entire universe. But due to your elevated position as is the case with gurus in Iskcon we have not had much personal association with you. This has proved to be a great disservice to your current predicament. For it appears that your accusers can quite easily tear you to shreds in regards to the poisoning and other alleged iniquities, while your supporters whimper tongue-in-cheek unsure of the direction or the strength of conviction or whatever it takes to vindicate you. As godbrothers well-wishers devotees and friends gradually turn away from you due to the diligence of your accusers- one cannot help but wonder at the depth of your depravity or why you have chosen this path of silent martyrdom- when from what we know of preachers- they never shut up. Should you croak it without closure on this important matter of Srila Prabhupada's poisoning- your infamy will most surely outweigh your bhakti- and posterity will mark you as the vilest of criminals. Maharaja, it is (AS YOU KNOW?) not in the nature of devotees to be judge jury and executioner, being aware of our own inebrities we are forced to show compassion on others even when it is most difficult to do so. Remembering my position as a fool whose only claim to any knowledge is the doya of Srila Prabhupada- permit me to offer a suggestion for the benefit not only of yourself but mainly for so many doubting tamasis like myself. Techies in America have updated the polygraph machine to within 95% accuracy. No more can anyone say 'I am Napoleon' and expect the machine to agree- in fact the remaining 5% is not inaccuracy but neutrality - in other words, there is no possibility of you being accused of what you're not. So what my humble submission is -is that you along with the other elevated vaisnavas who were in the room- alleged to be part of the whispering cabal- surrender to polygraph tests. This will certainly not stop all accusers- but for most it will suffice- after all devotees are simply searching for the truth.
