Where Is The Soul Of Iskcon?
BY MAHALAKSMI DASI
EDITORIAL, Dec 21 (VNN) All glories to Srila Prabhupada, please accept my humble obeisances. In response to all the talk about the GHQ'ers saying women have no souls etc., let's look at it all from another angle. Where is the soul of ISKCON? If any of us join(ed) this movement with the goal of taking shelter of Srila Prabhupada, and we were lied to (and the lies continue to be propagated) then perhaps some persons cannot grasp the proper understanding of Srila Prabhupada's desires, how to live an exemplary Vaisnava life, and how to achieve his shelter, but the fault rests in those at the top who have lied for a material position.
Not to take this discussion to the level of whether or not Srila Prabhupada should be accepted as initiating guru or not, perpetually, let's keep the topic to a more primary level. When Srila Prabhupada left, uninitiated and initiated devotees were ordered that they must accept one of the elite eleven as their link to the entire disciplic succession. Those in the disciplic succession do not fall down. So, obviously, this was all lies, and obviously, (if we read Srila Prabhupada's books and look to his personal example) gurus cannot be appointed or voted in by the process of popular vote.
So, if the proper understanding of who is guru has not been propagated, I would think that Srila Prabhupada himself has left. If there is mistruth being lived/taught by the leaders of a spiritual organization, certainly we could say it has lost it's soul..... Without a soul (Srila Prabhupada) how can we feel anything but compassion and sadness for men and women, who have come to the empty shell of ISKCON for spiritual growth, but have no actual spiritual guide?
Thus, my conclusion is to not point a finger at those men, who in private, wanted to feel themselves superior to women, and others, by their name-calling, etc., but to ask the leaders, "Why haven't you set examples of true Vaisnava humility, true examples of feeling oneself lower than the straw in the street, ready to offer all respect to others, and accept none for oneself? Why hasn't there been any precedent set for devotees in general to have turns taking darshan of senior Vaisnavas in India, who have lived the Vedic tradition their entire life, and one of whom (Srila Narayana Maharaj) the entire GBC body went to for TEN YEARS after Srila Prabhupada's departure?
(Following the order given by Srila Prabhupada in his last days) Why were Srila Prabhupada's instructions terminated when it was seen that Srila Narayana Maharaj had begun to initiate disciples? Why the fear which caused the GBC to ban both Srila Narayana Maharaj and Srila Bhakti Pramod Puri Maharaj, the oldest living Vaisnava on the planet, from coming to the Krsna Balaram Mandir, when they had been welcome for ten years? An actual guru has no fear, nor has he any qualms to fall at the feet of one who is on a more advanced level. I think that these facts should be broadcast, and the followers within this movement should demand a new quality of leadership; only such a revolution will safe IT'SGONE (Oh, I mean ISKCON) and bring her soul back again.
There is a hell being built for those persons who have taken shelter, TEN YEARS of it, of Srila Prabhupada's dear friend and siksha disciple, Srila Narayana Maharaja, then turned around and spat out this dear Vaisnava, and spread propaganda to poison the minds of naive, trusting, Vaisnavas. Respectfully submitted, Mahalaksmi Dasi
