CHAKRA Blazes Mercilessly Upon GHQ

BY GURU-KRSNA DAS

EDITORIAL, Dec 11 (VNN) — Letter to HH Umapati Swami & HH Vipramukhya Swami:

Dear Maharajas,

Please accept my respectful obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada! All glories to all genuine Prabhupadanugas!

(If I may humbly inquire from Your Holinesses:) I have noticed that the following 8 articles which relate either directly or indirectly to GHQ or its individual members have been published on CHAKRA:

* NA GBC on GHQ
* MR Raps GHQ
* Danavir Swami Raps GHQ
* Pancha Tattva on GHQ
* Agni Das on GHQ
* Annonymous on GHQ
* HKdd on Sannyasis
* 26 Characteristics of a Misogynyst

On the other hand, I find not one single article by a GHQ member, although by now several have been submitted to CHAKRA. This combination of facts suggests that CHAKRA is maintaining a definite bias in regard to GHQ--hence, my humble inquiry as to whether this is indeed the truth of the matter.

Although I consider myself to be lower than garbage in the dump, still I can honestly report to Your Holinesses that by the grace of my spiritual masters, I have been keeping my initiation vows for nearly 20 years now; similarly, by their mercy I gradually lost all taste for mundane literatures, cinemas, arts, social events, etc. and find that I have little tolerance for anything that is not directly connected to Krsna-katha. Nor do I entertain or accomodate deviant philosophies or practices such as sahajiyism, rtvikvada, mayavada, apasampradayas, etc. I say this only as a preface to the following statement, that: I would have had nothing to do with GHQ had it been in essence mundane or deviant.

Given that only the featured "black" excerpts from the archival GHQ texts have been available to the public thus far, it is no surprise that the average reader might misunderstand the intentions of the conference. But having cooperated with that group of devotees who are serious to address various social problems within ISKCON--and specifically the rise of feminist attitudes--although I did not know the details of any of the other members' daily lives, I remained a cooperating team member based on the sincerity of purpose shown by the active participants. My best judgement upheld that I was in the company of intelligent and faithful Prabhupadanugas-- fundamentalists perhaps, but certainly neither philosophical nor social deviants.

"Boys will be boys" was one phenomenon of GHQ and hence also the object of public scorn. But I humbly remind Your Holinesses that we GHQ members always assumed that GHQ was in fact a private conference. And still, it should be admitted by the unbiased reader of the GHQ texts thus far made public that we members reached a consensual agreement to restrain ourselves from loose talks, even in the "privacy" of our "private" conference.

As for misogyny, hardly another could imagine how much I myself happen to be loved by my *adi-mata*. Although I am 45-years-old, my dear mother still sends me gifts of *laxmi* without fail for my birthday and Christmas. But far beyond that, she has been consistently generous to my little family since my marriage in 1984. Even this past Thanksgiving, she has sent me a card with a verse of heartfelt sentiment of a mother for a beloved son. I do not claim to be a properly reciprocating son, but to be labeled a misogynyst is quite an absurdity, indeed. And had I detected real symptoms of the same from any other GHQ members, I surely would have withdrawn immediately from such unhealthy association.

Devotees know that the nature of cybercommunications is impersonal and therefore defective--that it is no wonder when even the sincerest intentions of any given e-mailer is misread by others. Despite its shortcomings, devotees find much practical utility in cybecommuncations, nonetheless. Therefore, I have made this humble attempt to convey through the cyberspace the simple fact that the members of GHQ were/are sincere, non-envious devotees of Krsna.

In conclusion, if Your Holinesses are actually not prejudiced against GHQ, then please kindly publish an equitable number of letters from its members, so as to counterbalance the slant which CHAKRA has thus far facilitated by not posting the same.

Thank you very much. Hoping you are well, I remain humbly endeavoring to become

your servant in service to ISKCON,
Guru-Krsna das (HDG)

*dharmo-rakshati rakshitaha*
