Multimedia Bhagavad-gita As It Is CD-ROM

(VNN) - Inspired by Hari-Rama Prabhu Virender Dayal at Krishna Software took up the challenge in 1994 to create a Bhagavad-gita CD-ROM. Krishna Software spent two years of programming, debugging, digitizing narrations and music, scanning pictures, editing Srila Prabhupada's lectures, etc. The software used in this CD is written entirely from scratch and does not use any third-party software presentation products.

The entire multimedia CD is now finished and contains: (1) the entire book with Sanskrit, Roman transliteration, word-for-word meanings, translations, and purports, (2) about 30 hours of audio (lectures, bhajans, and narrations), (3) about 200 pictures, (4) video clips, (5) background information about various activities in Krishna consciousness and the philosophy, (6) greeting the Deities simulation, and (7) brief biography on Srila Prabhupada and his books. The entire book is synchronized with various lectures, presentations, narrations, and illustrations. Any verse can be searched by phrase or by typing the chapter and the verse number. The CD uses diacritics throughout as found in the book. Any verse can be printed exactly the way it appears in the book and any verse can be extracted into a text file for use in one's own documents.

Many religious as well as non-religious people have given very favorable reviews. A few computer companies are licensing the innovative technology found in this CD. Pegasus Imaging Inc. has licensed the real-time sound-compression technology. A few other companies are close to confirming licensing agreements. This CD-ROM uses the text of Bhagavad-gita from 1994. It is available only in Windows 3.x or Windows '95 format.

In a previous bulletin, an erroneous reference was made to purchase and use of a 3D version of the object library, by All Source Processing Inc. ("ASPI"). ASPI did not purchase, nor use any such 3D Version of the library as there is no 3D version used in this CD. We regret any confusion.
