Devotees In Miami Heat Commercial


USA (VNN) - The Miami Herald reports (April 14,1998): "Rap music thumped on otherwise quiet Merrick Way in Coral Gables on Monday morning; police barricades blocked both ends of the street; and moviemaker Spike Lee grabbed two Hare Krishnas from the crowd of theatrical wannabes to pull them closer to Miami Heat player Tim Hardaway."

Iskcon Miami had major media coverage yesterday, when Jayadhvaja Swami, Srila Vidya, Narataka Gopal and Bhakta John participated in a commercial for the Miami Heat sports team. Director Spike Lee had personnaly called the devotees for the commercial and asked them to be next to the star player Tim Hardaway and their coach Pat Riley, who were dancing with the devotees lifting their arms up in the air. Soon the players and the crowd was chanting the Hare Krishna Maha Mantra.

In an interview with Channel 7 director Spike Lee mentioned that the commercial would be great and even the Hare Krishnas would be in it. The commercial will air beginning April 23.
