Sri Caitanya-Bhagavata

BY VRAJRAJ PRESS

PUBLICATION, Dec 6 (VNN) — Vrajraj Press is happy to announce the release of the fifth volume of their English translation of Sri Caitanya-bhagavata. This edition of Sri Caitanya-bhagavata includes verse transliteration, verse translation, and translation of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura's chapter summaries and purports. The previously released first four volumes cover the complete Adi-khanda as well as Madhya-khanda, Chapters One through Seventeen, while the newly released volume completes the Madhya-khanda with Chapters Eighteen through Twenty-eight. The topics covered in this volume include the dancing of Lord Caitanya as a gopi, the deliverance of Saci from offense to a Vaisnava, the deliverance of the Kazi, and the Lord's leaving home to accept sannyasa.

Sri Caitanya-bhagavata, the authorized biography of Sri Caitanya Mahaprabhu, was written by Srila Vrindavana Dasa Thakura, who is accepted by all Gaudiya Vaisnavas as the incarnation of Vyasadeva in Lord Caitanya's pastimes. Sri Caitanya-bhagavata is glorified by Krsnadasa Kaviraja Gosvami in Sri Caitanya-caritamrta, particularly in the Adi-lila, Chapter Eight, wherein Srila Prabhupada comments, "...it is a great aid for the common man to read Srila Vrndavana dasa Thakura's Caitanya-bhagavata, for thus he can actually understand devotional service, Krsna, Lord Caitanya and Nityananda."

The profound purports of Srila Bhaktisiddhanta Sarasvati Thakura illuminate the text, reveal the essence of pure devotional service, and reject that which is not in strict accordance with the line of Rupa Gosvami.
