Why Poison Srila Prabhupada?

USA (VNN) - Letter from NaraNarayan Vishwakarma das received 12/03/97:

Hari Bol!

The following is a possible scenario that could explain the psychology that might be required to poison Srila Prabhupada.

The following is hypothetical, and any part might or might be true as might the entirety.

Srila Prabhupada sees that his disciples are gearing up to become "successor gurus".

He writes the famous Rttvk "appointment letter" (naming 11 rttvks) to set the record straight.

The letter clearly states His position. It is obvious that there will be serious and possible very dangerous opposition.

Some of he prospective "new acharyas" and other hopefuls realize the impact of the letter on their ambition to become "Guru Successors" of Srila Prabhupada.

They realize that there is not time to lose. The letter will be distributed and the "rank and file" devotees will know that there will be no "Acharya" succeeding Srila Prabhupada, but that there will be rttvks and management from the GBC.

There is only one thing to do. The "appointment letter" has become Srila Prabhupada's death warrant.

WHY HAS SRILA PRABHUPADA DONE THIS?

He has effectively ended the Sampradaya! Is this a heresy? Will all of His great and wonderful work be wasted due to the fact that he has STOPPED THE DISCIPLIC SUCCESSION?

Something must be done! He clearly promised us that we (meaning a few hopefuls) would be named His successors!

Perhaps Tamal Krishna is right! *Perhaps Srila Prabhupada has become senile! In His old age He has slipped, and has allowed fear to dominate His thinking and has mistakenly ended the sampradaya!

THIS CANNOT BE ALLOWED TO HAPPEN. ......SOMETHING MUST BE DONE TO SAVE LORD CHAITANYA'S MOVEMENT! We must save Srila Prabhupada from Himself.

He will be remembered Gloriously unless His BIG MISTAKE is caught and rectified.

Surely Krishna and Lord Chaitanya would want us to POISON him for His own sake to prevent the ruin of all that He built.

So somehow medicine is prescribed that has some trace of arsenic in it. Advertise the fact of the arsenic in the medicine, and then put a teaspoon full into the overly sweet milk. Oh! this kaviraja is giving bad medicine. The arsenic in the Makadwaj is too much!

*(NOTE) I personally overheard a private conversation between Shayamasundara das and Tamal Krishna Goswami in the Colaba Post Office flat of Mr. Kartikeya Mahadevia. Tamal was angrily blaming Srila Prabhupada for trying to keep the Juhu Beach land. He said, "He is old. Old and senile. He is simply attached to that land! We will never be able to build on that land. He is simply old and attached."

When I heard this I was too shocked to cut out his tongue etc. as duty would demand. Quite honestly, it is the first and last time that I ever heard a disciple of Srila Prabhupada say such a monstrous what to speak of utterly foolish and insanely mistaken thing.

The rest is history. Tamal gave the land back to the owner, Mr. Nair ( Who I knew quite well) Srila Prabhupada came down like the wrath of God, retrieved the land (for a big chunk of money) ridiculed Tamal, exiled him to China, removed him from the Radha Damodara bus party, and when Tamal refused to obey Him, told him that he "had no longer any service".

This blasphemy has remained ringing in my head since the early 1970's when I heard it. (I forget the year, but it was a few weeks before Shayamasundara dasa left the movement to pursue ruby mines.)

Tamal had already built himself a crude "Vyasasana" out of cushions and tin trunks in one of the rooms of the same flat. (He used to chant there, but no one sat at his feet at that time.)

I know that Tamal's attitude toward Srila Prabhupada was very present during His last days, and I cannot help but wonder if he had infected a group of disciples with the idea that Srila Prabhupadas was "senile" and that it would be best to put him out of the way before He became an embarrassment to the movement.

If nothing else, this theory ties together the lust for large red chairs with crocodile tears over Srila Prabhupada's "condition" and a virtually undetectable Means of adding arsenic to milk that is psychologically masked by known arsenic in the Makardvaj medicine. It is no hard for me to think that certain self deluded devotees might think that they were "doing the right thing" by poisoning Srila Prabhupada.

Otherwise, why is no one wracked with guilt? If He was poisoned, do the poisoners indeed fee; guilty? Perhaps not.

Respectfully submitted by,

NB

For the last several years, Narayan Das of Alachua Florida has informed me that a "Prabhu in good standing in Iskcon" came to him to try to address a wrong that he had witnessed.

According to Narayan, this devotee had been a "fly on the wall" and overheard approximately eight devotees conspiring to kill Srila Prabhupada. Naturally this disturbed him, and many years later he approached Narayan to help him with this issue.

Narayan informed me that he investigated and at some point saw where the investigation was leading. At that point he said that he had accumulated considerable documentation and had it in a "safe place" to be released upon his untimely death.

He stated that he had decided not to pursue the matter, as he felt there could never be a conviction, and that the likely result for Iskcon would be another miserable unresolvable scandal.

He promised me that if I could identify all of the eight (?) conspirators that he would reveal all to me, but that he was not prepared to offer that information otherwise.

His source had apparently become fearful as to what might be his fate if he blew the whistle on his Godbrothers, and for this reason Narayan was unwilling to reveal the identity of this witness to the poison conspiracy.

I am hoping that Narayan das who I feel has a genuine love for Srila Prabhupada will now feel free to share his information (if it is indeed genuine) with the rest of us who are working night and day to see an end to this mystery of whether or not Srila Prabhupada was poisoned.
