Dainya Bodhika
BY PARAMANANDA PURI DASA
EDITORIAL, Aug 7 (VNN) Dainya Bodhika, and prayers to Narottama dasa Thakura
Dear Prabhus and Maharajas. Please accept my humble obeisances. All glories to Srila Prabhupada.
There is a wonderful song by Srila Narottama dasa Thakura in his Prarthana. Dainya Bodhika (the author describes his fallen condition).
"O Lord Hari, how wicked I am! I did not worship the lotus feet of Radha and Krsna in Vrajabhumi even for half a moment, and I am completely unable to understand the mellows of transcendental love"
"Even for half a moment I did not worship the lotus feet of Srila Svarupa Damodara Goswami, Srila Sanatana Goswami, Srila Rupa Goswami, Srila Raghunatha Dasa Goswami, Srila Raghunatha Bhatta Goswami, Srila Gopal Bhatta Goswami, Srila Bhugarbha Goswami, Srila Jiva Goswami and Srila Lokanatha Goswami. How will it be possible for me to attain my desire?"
"Among the devotees Krsna Dasa Kaviraja is extremely expert at relishing the transcendental nectar of mellows of love of Krsna. When the stones hear his Caitanya Caritamrita and Govinda Lilamrta, they begin to melt in ecstasy. In spite of this, I have no appreciation in my heart".
"Furthermore, I refuse even to associate with the friends and companions of these great souls. How sad is my tale. I have spent my life uselessly. Fie, Fie on Narottama dasa".
All glories to Srila Narottama dasa Thakura, may he inspire us with his greed for Krsna Prema, may he be kind and give us some laulyam. Srila Visvanatha Cakravati has glorified Srila Narottama Dasa Thakura in a astaka.
Srila Narottama prabhor astaka
"I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama dasa Thakura, a sincere follower of Lord Gauranga. Emitting a shower of the nectar of the holy name, with its splendor the moon of his mouth destroys the darkness of ignorance. " "I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. Blissful by singing Krsna's glories, he would become bathed in streams of perspiration and the splendor of his teeth and gentle smile would illuminate all directions. "
"I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama Sada Thakura. Hearing the mrdanga and the sound of the holy name, he would dance, moving his enchanting lotus feet and the hairs of his body would be erect in ecstasy". "I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. His dancing dispelled the Gandharvas pride. His devotional activities filled everyone with wonder. His songs made him famous. "
"I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottamadasa Thakura. He would sometimes faint in ecstasy and fall to the ground, his body decorated with dust. The very fortunate would see him in that way. "
"I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama Dasa Thakura. In place after place the splendor of his mercy uprooted the peoples thirst for anything other than Krsna. "
"I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. His firm faith in devotional service to Krsna is like a necklace of precious stones. His touch is like a sparsamani jewel. His words are like the four Vedas. "
"I offer my respectful obeisances to Srila Narottama dasa Thakura. The devotees always wonder: Is he devotional service personified? Is he the essence of renunciation who has descended to the world of human beings in this form?" "May the dancing of Srila Narottama's Lotus feet, which is graceful with the sounds of karatalas and mrdangas, and which is sweet with the honey of Lord Gauranga, fulfill the spiritual desires of me, his servant. "
Your humble servant Paramananda Puri Dasa
