Krsna's Flute
BY PAYONIDHI DASA
EDITORIAL, Jul 6 (VNN) There is one part of Raghunatha Dasa Gosvami's Stavavali that is especially sweet, that is his Vraja Vilasa Stava that glorifies the residence of Vrindavana.
I just like to share some verses from there: "Sometimes Lord Krsna feeds the calves, earnestly placing small bunches of tender fresh grass in their mouths, and sometimes He very carefully massages their limps. I yearn to one day see these calves of Lord Krsna jumping and frolicking in Vrindavana".
Srila Prabhupada has also written something similar on his way to America on the Jaladutta. (it is in the old songbook of Vaisnava Acaryas).
There is a wonderful song we all know, Jaya Radha jaya Krsna, jaya Vrindavana. Some say it was written by Krsna dasa Kaviraja and others say it was written by another great vaisnava.
That song is also wonderful as it invokes remembrance of Vrindavana.
Sri Nanda Yasoda jaya, Jaya Gopa Gana, Sridamadi Jaya Jaya Dhenu vatsa gana "All glories to Nanda Baba,Nanda Maharaja and Yasoda mata, Mother Yasoda All glories to the cowherd boys headed by Sridama ! All glories to the cows and calves of Vrindavana."
In another verse Raghunatha dasa Goswami writes: "The fortunate flute deeply drinks the nectar of Lord Krsna's lips day and night. I offer my respectful obeisances to this flute, which, with its transcendental music weakens the pride of Srimati Radhika".
Actually Krsna's flute is His ultimate weapon when Srimati Radharani becomes angry, jealous anger, Mana.
Sometimes She is so angry She cries a whole lake of tears, like in Vrindavana there is a beautiful place called Manasarova. The lake of Srimati Radhika's tears. When Krsna makes Srimati Radharani upset by spending His time with another Gopi She sometimes becomes so angry that She refuse to talk to Krsna.
Sometimes Krsna sends His,friends to try to pacify Srimati Radharani's,, proud jealous anger, mana.
In the 10 Canto of Srimad Bhagavatam there is a chapter where the Gopis glorify Krsna's flute. This chapter is also sweetly described in Srila Prabhupada's Krsna book. The effect of Krsna's flute is described by the Gopis in SB 10. chapter 21 verses 7 to 20.
"My dear gopis, what auspicious activities must the flute have performed to enjoy the nectar of Krsna's lips independently and leave only a taste for us gopis, for whom that nectar is actually meant! The forefathers of the flute, the bamboo trees, shed tears of pleasure. His mother the river on whose bank the bamboo was born feels jubilation , and therefore her blooming lotus flowers are standing like hairs on her body." SB10.21.9
Raghunatha dasa Goswami writes then:
"Neither the flattering cajoling words spoken by Krsna's Gopi messengers nor the many hints, allegories, and joking instructions spoken by Krsna's cowherd friends nor Krsna personally falling at Her feet and begging Her to forgive Him nor even the harsh criticisms spoken by her intimate friends were able to rout the proud jealous anger, residing in Srimati Radha's heart. Only Krsna's flute disdaining all previous useless attempts, was able to very easily chase away that jealous anger. Let us glorify Krsna's exalted and powerful friend, His flute."
