Three More Nasty Questions
BY JAGAT CANDRA DAS
EDITORIAL, Mar 4 (VNN) Now that the Ritviks have apparently been put in place & the issue settled, will somebody answer a few questions that were raised during the fray? Some of these questions are desperately in need for answers and are disturbing to devotees on both sides of the issue, whether Ritvik or not.
1. Does the grand disciple (who joins or follows 4 regs and chants 16 rounds, having been inspired by Srila Prabhupada's books) have a relationship with Srila Prabhupada or not? If yes, what is it? Please define it. If not, then please explain how someone can inspire a person to make drastic changes, altering the course of many lifetimes and make that crucial orientation towards Krsna and yet not be anyone special with a definite spiritual position in that person's life?
2. What moves have been made to insulate devotees and ISKCON from another mess should any Guru fall down. Why is it that the new disciples are so upset when their Gurus fall? Obviously they have been thinking that (or led to think) that their Gurus are infallible inspite of all the fall-downs we have had. Should not the new devotees be given a realistic picture about the nature of Srila Prabhupada - the rarity of a personality like Srila Prabhupada? Or please explain exactly how the present Gurus are different from Srila Prabhupada? The fact that many of them were not the same as Srila Prabhupada is as clear as daylight on a hot sunny afternoon in India. So all that remains are definite definitions on the different Gurus we have -starting from Srila Prabhupada down to the fallen ones.
3. What steps are being taken for the subtle and very powerful tussle among many of the present Gurus (with their disciples in tow) to get more disciples for themselves? Let it not be said that Srila Prabhupada's disciples were hypocrites. Lets accept this as a fact and recognize that this is a dangerous situation that undermines the working of ISKCON as one body with common goals. Or please explain how there is no danger in such a situation and that it is the best for the movement.
Just 3 questions. Is there anyone, GBC or anyone, who can give a clear cut answer to this? ...anyone?
