Only One Initiating Spiritual Master
BY KRSNA PREMA DASI
EDITORIAL, Jan 6 (VNN) Dear Ramacandra das, all glories to Srila Prabhupada who is an expert spiritual master. Please accept my respectful obeisances.
Thank you for your attempt to clarify the issue on reinitiation but you have missed what has been said by Srila Prabhupada. He is the first and last person to hear from.
I have not read the previous acaryas directly because I have understood that Srila Prabhupada instructs us to read his books to understand them. Being the current link to the disciplic succession he has supplied all of the conclusions of the previous authorities within his lucid commentary.
However to comment on the verses you have provided it simply says one may reject that "guru" not that one becomes uninitiated or must become reinitiated. We may look to the example of Bali Maharaja as explained in Srimad Bhagavatam to understand this.
Srila Prabhupada very clearly instructs us in the golden Sri Caitanya Caritamrta the following;
C.C. Adi Lila 1.35 I first offer my respectful obeisances at the lotus feet of my initiating spiritual master and all my instructing spiritual masters.
Excerpt from purport by Srila Prabhupada: "...A devotee must have only one initiating spiritual master because in the scriptures acceptance of more than one is always forbidden. There is no limit, however, to the number of instructing spiritual masters one may accept. ..."
The consolation for Mother Bhakti is that no matter which way she views things the last word in Krsna consciousness is Srila Prabhupada's. Your servant, Krsna Prema dasi
