| EDITORIAL November 29, 1998 VNN2573 Please Rectify Yourself BY A LIFE MEMBER & WELL-WISHER OF ISKCON EDITORIAL, Nov 29 (VNN) — Dear H. H. Kavichandra Maharaja: All glories to Srila Prabhupada. I am very mortified to know, from an article [VNN story #1797] posted on the Internet by your Godbrother H. G. Gaura Mandala Bhumi Dasa, about the most disappointing news about your degradation from the "Sannyasa" dharma. What you are doing in the name of the so-called renounced order is completely contrary to the scriptural laws and the rules set forth by Srila Prabhupada in order to keep the ISKCON movement free from material contamination and slur. The more days are passing by, the more the impression that the Foreign Gurus [Non-Indian] of ISKCON are no longer eligible to act as Sannyasis are prevailing upon mind as they are alleged and rumored to be not only following the basic regulated principles but also infringing the laws and order that govern the "Sannyasa" system. It has been stated in the different Vedic scriptures that those - who tend to ostensibly follow the rigorous "sannyasa" dharma , that distinguish them from the followers of other 3 Ashramas, but cannot restrain their sensual activities - are bound to live in the hellish planets for the same number of period as the amount of semen they discharge while following this system. By pretending to be a sannyasi, you are deluding your own disciples, as you are rumored to be not following the regulative principles. What is the use of showing off this kind of "False Vairagya" ? The kind of Sannyasi like you (real Black Sheep of ISKCON) will not only defame ISKCON's movement in Indonesia but also allow the adherents of Narayana Maharaja to snatch away the disciples and grand-disciples of Srila Prabhupada in the region [Indonesia] of which you are a self-declared royal king, who is devoid of the qualities of the Spiritual King. A sannyasi is always forbidden to associate with the opposite sex. Don't you remember that your Godbrother "H. H. Vishnujana Maharaja" - one of the pivotal preachers of Krishna consciousness in the early 1970s in North America - committed a suicide, by jumping into an Indian river, after Srila Prabhupada replied to his queries "what a Sannyasi should do when he falls down from the spiritual path" and told him that those who degenerate from the "Sannyasa Dharma" have no other alternative than commit suicide to expiate their ineffable sins. After all, H. H. Vishnujana Swami was honest to admit his faults, even though it was not a severe one [ H. H. Vishnujana Swami was reported to have talked to his divorced wife and daughters after he took renunciation ] , as compared to the present situation of some Western ISKCON Sannyasis - who not only associate with the female disciples but also urge them to massage their Guru Maharaja. These kind of Sannyasis like you are adept to exhort the mass people in the temple room during the "GITA" & "SRIMAD BHAGAVATAM" class Haven't you ever read the purport of the verse 13-14 of Chapter 6 where Srila Prabhupada at one stage commented: "To realize the Vishnu murti in a yogi's life, one has to observe complete abstinence from sex life. So one has to leave home and live in a secluded place. One cannot enjoy sex life at home or elsewhere and attend a so-called yoga class and thus become a yogi. One has to control the mind and the means of sense gratification of which sex life is the chief. In the rules of celibacy, the sage Yajnavalka said: karmana manasa vaco sarvavasthasu sarvada sarvatra maithuna tyago bramhacaryam pracaksate The word of brahmachary means to help one completely abstain from sex indulgence in work, words and mind at all times under all circumstances and all places. No one can practice yoga practice through sex indulgence. So, brahmachary is taught from childhood when one has no knowledge of sex life. Children at age 5 are sent to gurukula or the place of spiritual master and the master trains the young boys in the strict discipline of becoming brachmacharis. Without such practice, no one can make any advancement in any yoga, whether it be dhyana, jnana, bhakti. One, who however follows the rules and regulation of married life,having a sexual relation with only his wife (that also under the regulation) is also called brahmachari." "SANNYASA" - the 4rth in the Varnasrama system is an order so highly elevated and difficult to maintain that those who want to embrace it should seriously ponder over whether he is really eligible to maintain the strict vows of renunciative lives or not, otherwise the renunciatiative path embarked on by one, who is not at all fit for it, would make it appear as a totally sham event before the society. Because if the spiritual teachers - who are to inculcate into the general mass the regulative, spiritually educative, rigid principles - that should guide the whole society towards the way of spiritual enlightenment - don't carry out their order meticulously, then the whole mass would degenerate. In the BHAGAVAD GITA, Lord Krishna said to Arjuna: Yadu Yadu acarati sresthas tat tad evetaro janah sa yat pramanam kurute lokas tad anuvartate Whatever action a great man performs, common men follow. And whatever standards he sets by exemplary acts, all the world pursues. "SANNYASOPONISHAD" - one of the 108 Upanishads - named after the SANNYASA system, delineates how the rigid principles of SANNYASA have to be followed by the adherents and the ultimate consequence of one's perpetrating sin in the event of his failure to maintain the SANNYAS system. Have the SANNYASIS - who had in the past fallen down and thus cast aspersions on SRILA PRABHUPADA & ISKCON - forgotten that a SANNYASI, as told by Srila Prabhupada at the time of giving them SANNYASA order, must live in the hell for the same number of years as many drop of semen he discharges knowingly or by falling as victim of the association of females ? Whereas the SANNYASIS & GURUS should remain independent on Lord Krishna for their maintenance and live in a state like living from hand to mouth, and totally abstain from the association of women and money, which usually precipitate their downfall; on the contrary they clandestinely mingle with the women and keep on accumulating wealth. Srila Prabhupada - who was born into a very well-to-do family and once dealt in pharmaceutical business - never retreated from it to overcome severe financial crisis that he once fell into after he renounced the household life and was leading a vanaprastha life as a prelude to taking sannyasa. Unfortunately some of Srila Prabhupada's SANNYASI disciple didn't follow the sparkling ideals set up by him and thus sullied his name, fame, and glorious achievements. The Mayavadi SANNYASIS of the RAMKRISHNA MISSION & VEDANTA SOCIETY are never heard to have fallen down, even though they are not complete vegetarian. They follow the rigid "Sannyasa" order very strictly and wholeheartedly. ISKCON Sannyasis like your stature shouldn't lump on the Mayavadi sannyasis of different religious institute, while giving lectures in the temple. The SANNYASI, GURU & BRAMCHACHARY followers of the SWAMINARAYN FAITH are strictly forbidden to give a discourse to a female audience, sit before the women followers and to see them face to face any time, even while giving initiation to their female followers. The rigorous vow adopted by the SWAMINARAYAN GURUS not to appear even before the female followers intending to be initiated - though call forth sarcastic criticism from the religious critics for discriminating the woman folk and seriously carry matters too far concerning the SANNYASA ORDER - should deserve an extraordinary praise and plaudition. Even though Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, who himself took SANNYASA to instruct the living entities, didn't instruct his SANNYASI followers to segregate the female followers, as executed by the SWAMINARAYAN FAITH in contrivance of the Vedic order; rather He did command them to strictly keep aloof from the opposite sex, referring to a verse from Srimad Bhagavatam (9/19/19) where King Pururava, after enjoying sense gratification for a long time with his wife Sharmishtha, became surfeited by overindulgence in sex life and duly said to her: mata svasra duhitra va navivaktasano bhavet valavan indriyogramo vidvamsam api karshati. "One shouldn't stay in a secluded place even with his own mother, sister and daughter, because the senses are so impulsive that they even allure the learned men." Chaitanya Mahaprabhu even said, "Even the wooden figure of women can make one into illusion." You should've known all these things. It doesn't befit a very ordinary person like me to prop you up for these mistakes and offenses committed by you in the "Sannyasa" dharma. If you are very much book worms, as revealed by your stockpiling the medicine books, sexual & health books, then why don't you read the voluminous books of Srila Prabhupada ? I just don't want to boast of my knowledge as far as the contents of Srila Prabhupada's books are concerned. Even though I couldn't yet finish reading the voluminous books of Srila Prabhupada once, yet I think that whatever portion of the books I have read so far are yet to be read by some of the non-Indian ISKCON gurus like your holiness. There is enough time for you to rectify yourself. Otherwise, the pious deeds achieved by you through the chanting of the Hari Nama (which you are alleged not to complete a day) will not help you to go back home, Back to Godhead, rather will relegate you to the nether planetary systems from where you will be difficult to get away from, even transmigrating through species lives after lives. Don't think that just chanting the "Hare Krishna" Maha Mantra will rid you of the sins that you have accumulated - despite being a Sannyasi - by way of flirting with your female disciples, allegedly thinking of homosexual activities and of course masturbation.
