EDITORIAL  About the AuthorOther Stories by this Author Let The GBC Initiation Debate Begin BY GAURIDASA PANDITA DASA  EDITORIAL, May 13 (VNN) — "Let The 1990 GBC Ordered Debate Begin" Better Late Than Never!Let the 1990 North American GBC ordered debate begin! Better late than never! What could be the harm? Only benefit will come from free and open communication and lead to the cooperation that Srila Prabhupada wants for us and his Hare Krsna Movement. Nasringananda Prabhu from ITV is willing and ready to tape the historic event for the benefit of all Vaisnavas and even the world in the near and far future. Nasringananda Prabhu made an effort to discredit me with his article, "Nothing Ever Banned" saying that the GBC initiation debate tape was never banned and I gave misleading information in my last article, "GBC Meets In L.A" by saying that the tape was banned. He insinuated that I could not be trusted with my memories of Srila Prabhupada's instructions. Fortunately, what I have been saying all along since 1977 is supported by Srila Prabhupada's written and taped instructions. I am only supporting the evidence of what he said, not making up my own stories as has been alleged time and again without consulting me. Actually the tape is banned by ISKCON and Nasringananda Prabhu is in his own dream world if he thinks it is not. Try getting the ISKCON temples, LA for example, to allow the tape to be played and discussed. It will not happen because even talk of this matter has been officially banned by the GBC. The GBC has ordered also that istagosthi's be held regularly in all ISKCON temples; but they are not. Free and open communication is non-existent in most of ISKCON today. That is why very little progress, if any, is being made by the leaders individually and the movement as a whole. I am gald to hear that Nasrinananda Prabhu is ready to film the next debate or discussion if it is ever allowed to happen. I also hope that his article made devotees aware that the GBC initiation debate tape of 1990 is still available from ITV and they order it. Our problems can be overcome by communicating nicely and cooperating to solve them; not by banning the problems and any devotees who dare discuss them. I thank Nasringananda for his kind words which were like sweet rice but I tasted a little salt. Hoping this meets all Vaisnavas happy and advancing in Krsna Consciousness, Love of God.
