Two Eclipses In May Are Bad Omens

BY PATITA PAVANA DAS ADHIKARY

COMMUNITY, May 26 (VNN) — All devotees are familiar with the samudra-manthan incident described in the Shrimad Bhagavatam, when the demigods and demons churned the ocean to produce nectar. It was during this episode that Lord Vishnu, the Personality of Godhead, appeared as Mohini Maya, decapitating the demon Rahu. Afterwards Rahu and Ketu became the enemies of Surya and Chandra, causing eclipses.

Visible throughout USA, there will be a lunar eclipse of the full Moon in the sign in which both Moon and Rahu are debilitated, Scorpio, on May 15th. The Vedic calendar date, Vaishakha Purnima, also coincides with the holy appearances of Lords Buddha and Kurma, and is Narada Jayanti also. Modern so-called "scientists" are looking forward to the event with anticipation, devotees know otherwise. When the glorious Moon, who kindly provides taste to vegetables and healing power to herbs, is placed in distress, it it rather a time for lamentation. In India, temples are closed, leftover food is thrown out and people stay indoors, away from the inauspicious rays of the eclipse. Large birthmarks on babies are said to result from pregnant mothers being exposed to the rays of eclipses.

The second eclipse this month (May 2003) will be an eclipse of the Sun occurring one fortnight (half a lunar cycle or fifteen days)from the lunar eclipse, on May 30th. This event will occur while the Sun is in Taurus, on the Amavashya day (dark of the Moon). It is also Shanaischar Jayanti, or the birthday of Saturn, the bitter enemy of the Sun. These eclipses do not augur well for the next month or so. Tornadoes and floods in the Midwest have preceded the events.

The so-called "Millenium" when the Western calendar turned to the year 2000 was a time fraught with an extraordinary number of eclipses. At that time I penned a two-part book, which I have called Horoscope for Disaster. The first part of the book contains over 150 horoscopes of demons and their victims. The second part outlines by date every eclipse of the Twentieth Century, and the disasters that coincided around the time of these inauspicious celestial events.

The book, about 450 pages in length, is a fascinating piece of research done along Vedic lines. It is being printed on a demand basis, and copies are available only through me for $30.00. For your copy, send check, cash or money order made out to the International Institute of Indology, 1303 Columbus Ave. San Francisco, CA (USA) 94133. Remember that Lord Shri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu advented Himself during an eclipse, while everyone was chanting the Holy Name just to ward off it dark rays.

So chant Hare Krishna and be happy, Prabhus.
