Vedic Friends Association
BY SRI NANDANANDANA DASA
COMMUNITY, Apr 19 (VNN) Invitation to join the Vedic Friends Association
Dear Friends,
I would like to announce the formation of a new organization for the promotion and preservation of Vedic Culture, and invite you to join. It is called the Vedic Friends Association (VFA). It is meant to provide a free affiliation for helping each person understand, practice and promote the Universal Spiritual Truths found in Vedic Dharma, the ancient knowledge of India. In this way, we assist each other in exploring its spiritual, social and scientific dimensions for the benefit of all. You can find out much more about us and see some of our members as listed on our website at: http://www.vedicfriends.org.
We want to cater to the spiritual needs of the individual and bring to everyone the adventure and freedom of finding oneself to the fullest extent. We want to help bring forth new realms of inner exploration and awareness, which paves the way for personal happiness and higher self-worth, along with the possibility of unique individual development and collective social change for a better world. So it is our intent to give every member of the VFA the freedom to unreservedly follow their inquisitiveness into what Vedic culture can provide and how it can enhance their life.
We also want to help provide the means to network with individuals, other followers of Vedic culture, and organizations who want to do the same. The VFA aims to help bring such people together to work more effectively in a mood of cooperation and increased understanding. We are non-sectarian and are not in competition with any other organization or culture. We look toward making strong, cooperative ties amongst a broad range of people and groups with similar interests for concerted efforts of teamwork and participation for helping elaborate the universal truths in Vedic knowledge. Such an association means a stronger voice and more effective and all-inclusive strategies for the upliftment of everyone. We don't want to exclude anyone. We feel that everyone can benefit from this association, and by understanding the deep insights within Vedic knowledge. Therefore, anyone from any background or level of interest is welcome to join.
Some of the departments of activity that we are developing include:
- Vedic Spirituality and its paths for spiritual progress, - Public Relations, - Media Development, - Vedic Environmentalism and Ecology, - Vegetarianism, - Vedic Art and Cultural Presentations, - Ayurveda, - Vedic Astrology, - The VFA Publishing Wing, - Tourism of India, - Vedic Productions- exploring and producing material on the Vedic influence around the world, - and several others.
We already have a number of noted and competent authors and lecturers knowledgeable in several fields of Vedic study, a few of which are Ayurveda, Jyotish, types of Yoga, Meditation, Vegetarianism, Vedic history, archeology, as well as Bhakti-yoga and Vaishnavism and others. See our Affiliate Writers page on our web site. We also have the VFA-Family email newsletter for members to communicate, voice their ideas or concerns, share their views and news on issues, and to post their questions and network with others.
We will soon also have a separate news oriented web site to cover recent events and views from the Vedic perspective. This will be open to everyone, and includes many features for spreading the Vedic message. There are already a number of noted writers and journalists who will be contributing articles and views, and more will follow as this grows.
Our email monthly (or more often) Journal also features relevant short news items and insightful articles from a broad range of Vedic subjects in the field of sanatana-dharma and Vedic tradition by our VFA members. This also features travel articles on the adventures or events our VFA members have attended, as well as how we are working to preserve, protect and expand Vedic culture in such places as America, India and elsewhere. You can sign up for the email Journal and Newsletter through the membership form on the web site. Furthermore, we are a tax-exempt organization, and as our members and support increases, so will the number of projects, publishing and activities that we do.
So if you are interested, please check out our web site and send in the membership application or the information about yourself, as found at: http://www.vedicfriends.org.
Also, if you know of any other people who would be interested in this, please pass this invitation along to them, or inform them of the VFA web site. People are joining simply because they like the broad and long term vision that is held within the VFA. So the possibilities of the VFA will expand with the input of its members. Hoping this meets you well and that we will hear from you soon.
With best regards, Stephen Knapp (Sri Nandanandana dasa)
